I had heard of two very interesting names being seen for Stanley's role and an offer was extended to at least one. I'm sure she's fine, but it could have been a real event!

Love Sean Allen Krill. He's excellent in the current production of Hamlet at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.

I know Idina Menzel (who was involved with the show during its workshop phase) was being considered to replace Stanley for the Broadway production. Don't know much beyond that or if there was ever an official offer made. That being said, Stanley received raves in Boston so I am excited to see her make the transfer!

Elizabeth Stanley was fantastic in this. She delivered two of my favorite numbers in the show (including one that was delivered backwards!). I’m so happy they didn’t replace her with someone they thought would be a bigger draw.
Lauren Patton was outstanding as well.

Those are just required calls any production that announces a Broadway run is required to have. Normally the shows have already been cast from previous runs, labs, workshops, readings, etc. so the calls are more of a formality or to be considered for an understudy or swing track as well as for consideration as a future replacement.

People get so snippy lol... I heard this too. It was Idina and Nicole Scherzinger. Idina had conflicts with Frozen 2 press so couldn't do it.

Wowowowow - I adore Stanley in this role, but goddamn I would’ve done anything to see Scherzinger sing these songs. Wonder if she turned it down because the role is so acting - heavy. I can imagine this turning into a Waitress 2.0 with “celebs” replacing other players throughout the run. Love this show though, so excited.
