I think part of the problem is that it's not a show for tourists. The New Yorkers who wanted to see it have pretty much done so, and tourists aren't showing a strong interest in the show, hence it's repeated money-losing weeks at the box office.
I still say that there has been too much discounting for this show. Few people are willing to pay full price when there are multiple discounts available.
Except: tourists don't really know about discounts and therefore don't seek them out. Even WITH discounts, they can't get a decent house, averaging about 60% capacity.
I can't answer why they can't get an interest in the show - but they just cannot.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

It should be. Spectacular dance numbers, bombastic numbers, a generic pro-america sentiment that should appeal to both liberals and conservatives... and should register as historic kitsch to foreign tourists.
Even though the bones of this show could have been much stronger, I think the show SHOULD have caught fire... but as Dramamama says... they just can't seem to drum up interest.
