It's about time...
I'm would love to see it again. I viewed it at the Radio and Television Museum on one of my NYC trips. The documentary sounds intriguing as well. I wonder when they will air.
EXCELLENT!
I also saw this at the Museum a few years ago and loved it. It's always been one of my favorite musicals (Leslie Ann Warren was breathtaking in the remake in the '60s) Being a fan of not only the musical but also Julie Andrews, its such a pleasure to see that its coming out on DVD.

I got so excited when i read your post. I went to the site you have posted but there wasn't any date. Does anyone know when both the "Cinderella", and the broadway documentry will be airing?
Remember the one done in the 60's with Leslie Ann Warren in the title role, and Celeste Holm as the Fairy Godmother? I would love to see that again.
It's on DVD...

Cinderella
I remember watching this when I was quite young. It still makes me smile.
I wish they woulda filmed the tour with Eartha Kitt. That was the best! I'm mad that they didn't even make a cast recording or anything. And the Disney one doesn't have a CD either. Makes me mad......
if you're referring to the one with Brandy and Whitney - there's a good reason it is not on CD - it SUCKS.
Like Matt and redhot (purrrrr....), I also saw it at the Radio/TV Museum years ago. Great fun...not too many opportunities to see Eydie Adams young, you know? She did do more than be the Tiparillo lady.
I also saw the Ford Spectacular saluting Rodgers & Hammerstein done back in the 50s. That was great, too. The hilarious thing, though, was the elegant party they were having after the broadcast (it was a running commercial throughout the whole thing). They were extolling the wonders of the new TV dinners that had just come on the market, and were going to serve all the luminaries salisbury steak, green peas, and mash potatoes...right out of the oven. Mmmmmmmm....
For you young pups out there in NYC, use your resources. The R/TV Museum is great for seeing performances/performers you will never see again. Check their schedules often. It's worth it.
Also saw it at MT&R. What a great experience. I'm looking forward to seeing it again.
Did anyone else get the New York City Opera schedule? Cinderella is part of next year's season. I thought that was pretty interesting.
Well - if it happens to be the Rogers and Hammerstein version - I am THERE!
Redhot, it is indeed the R & H version. Check out the link below.
NYCO
THANK YOU!

Don't get too excited about the NYC Opera's version of CINDERELLA. It's dismal. Although the production features the Rodgers and Hammerstein score, it uses sets and costumes from their version of Massinet's version of the story. I believe it's called LA CENDRILLON. The sets are dark and brooding and in complete contrast to the brass and percussion in the R&H score. The same holds true for the costumes. The whole thing didn't jell when they first did it about 10 years ago.
Is there any indication that this is a new production?
Will they ever make a good recording of the R&H CINDERELLA?
The tour that I saw with Eartha Kitt, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Pablo Montalban and (a guy) Everett Quinton as the stepmother had a perfect song list....
Overture
Prologue
The Sweetest Sounds
The Prince is Giving a Ball!
In My Own Little Corner
The Sweetest Sounds (reprise)
In My Own Little Corner (reprise)
Fol-De-Rol
Impossible
The Transformation
It's Possible!
Act One Finale
Entr'Acte
The Govotte
The Cinderella Waltz
Ten Minutes Ago
The Stepsister's Lament
Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?
Ten Minutes Ago (reprise)
When You're Driving Through the Moonlight
A Lovely Night
A Lovely Night (reprise)
The Search
Finale: There's Music in You
I think the inclusion of "Your Majesties", and "Falling in Love With Love" would make it perfect....
Does anyone have a song list for the NYCO production???
The song list at rnh.com is horrid.
"Boys And Girls Like You And Me" and "Loneliness of Evening" are both terrible and don't belong....
I'm very picky when it comes to this score. The tour list was just about perfect....

There is a CD from the production with Whitney and Brandy... you could check out the link on accuradio.com, I don't know how to put that here. When is all of this stuff on PBS airing??
I don't understand accuradio.com I can't find the CINDERELLA CD.... I was told one did not exist. help?
CATS, you are correct. There is not a CD recording of the Whitney/Brandy production. The only recording I know if that you can currently get on CD is the Julie Andrews recording. There are DVD's of both the Leslie Ann Warren and the Brandy versions.
Are you sure?? Well, you can hear tracks from the CD on accuradio.com. I hear it all the time, and they drive me crazy!! I do not like Brandy's voice whatsoever. And they are all so long!
accuradio.com lists the Whitney/Brandy CD as existing. It even has a picture of the cover art. And I guess it plays the songs on their radio... but, a CD was never released because of CD label contract disputes between Brandy and Whitney's CD labels. I don't like either of them, really, but I like the songs. Does anyone know if I can download them anywhere??? Links??? Updated On: 4/27/04 at 07:55 PM
