Hearing from some reliable sources that the production won't open. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Expect a major announcement soon. A friend involved in production has confirmed it has been "postponed indefinitely"...

What's the trouble? This isn't that expensive of a show to mount.
Are tickets on sale? Maybe the advance was pitiful.

Not sure... Producers with cold feet? Disappointed as I enjoy Doyle's work (most of it) and love a lot of this cast...
Curious to see how this unfolds. That poor Circle in the Square will stay dark...
Maybe advanced sales weren't that great... shame... :- Whether the show was good or not, no one will know.
If this is true, I'll be sad because I won't get to have my Magical John Doyle Double Header Day. Which you all know I was going to have.
I just might. But it has been my dream to see two Doyle shows in one day ever since Sweeney and Company missed each other by a month.
Shame if it's true. I was hoping to see this. I also wish someone would put a top-notch production of Return to the Forbidden Planet in Circle in the Square. Brilliant show.
They need to just put ROCKY HORROR back in there and keep it forever and forever.

Interesting:
"On behalf of my fellow producers and investors, we are all so excited to bring PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES back to Broadway," producer Abby Lee said. "With the crowded landscape on Broadway this spring, we all agreed that the wise choice was to proceed with a new opening date. We are in the process of determining the updated production schedule and look forward to sharing this wonderful musical with Broadway audiences in the near future."

There was a rumor that DISGRACED was looking to move to Broadway. Circle in the Square would be a good venue for it. Just a thought.
and we now have another theater to be vacant this spring/summer. I doubt this would have sold considering the Doyle concept. Sweeney Todd & Company didn't recoup, and they're both well known musicals. I doubt the average person has heard of Pump Boys & Dinettes.
^Sweeney Todd did recoup. In 19 weeks.

There were 5 actors, no musicians and no set. Of course that horrendous production recouped.

Sad, sad. Leenya Rideout needs a splashy role. Ferocious talent.
Blerrrrrgh.
Also tired of people deciding Sweeney didn't recoup just because they didn't like it. Not how it works. Thems the facts.
For what it's worth I am pretty sure they were still rehearsing this week, so hopefully they do simply postpone .
So was Ben Sprecher the lead producers on this one as well? Was there more alleged venomous email to non existent investors?
I have never heard of this show, is it new or a revival?
Saw this on Broadway originally. It put Debra Monk on the map as a actress/singer (she starred) and as a writer ( she wrote some of it with the rest of the cast.)
It doesn't belong on Broadway. It belongs off-broadway.. Way off..Like Opryland? It takes place at a diner/gas station and they sing songs in the diner. Yawn. No book. Annoying hillbilly diner stuff.Couldn't wait to leave although Monk was good.
I love Debra Monk as a performer. She is always great.. but this show will disappoint in so many ways.
Doyle is the obvious choice for director because guess what....?? The actors all played their own (yawn) instruments. It was actually written that way.

I was fortunate to work on PUMP BOYS from the time it started OOB, even before the DINETTES were added to the show. Of course, I'm biased. I LOVE the show, but that being said, I wouldn't produce a Broadway production of the show at this time. Circle in the Square is the most appropriate Broadway house for the show, but nevertheless, I see don't see a market for it today. I'll be surprised if this group of producers ever bring to Broadway.
