ETA: "What was inappropriate about what they wore? Sheesh."
I just find the costumes that reveal the people's upper thighs questionable. That's all.
"^ Their costumes were less revealing than the Rockette leotards..."
That show and its performers completely slipped my mind. I did not have the best experience when I saw it. My friend and I went to see the touring production and I fell asleep during it. We also had a difficult time finding our ride home in the parking lot and my friend almost got hit by a car. That was one night I did enjoy at all and now it has returned to my mind for the first time in a while.

Sorry for double posting, but I just do really find the showing of upper thighs and upper legs questionable.
Someone pointed this out on Disney Wiki. I think Walt Disney and his animators should have been more careful when animated the scene of 'Peter Pan' where Wendy got hit by the Lost Boys weapons. Most of her legs were showing at one point.
In 'Alice in Wonderland' when Alice's dress opened up like a parachute, at least her lower body was covered in her long stockings and undergarments.

Posted: 11/28/13 at 3:33pmNo offense, but I can’t believe someone is getting soo bent out of shape over someone’s thighs being exposed. What is this? 1920??? If that’s something that bothers you, then don’t ever venture too far outside on warm days because you are bound to see at least one person (man OR woman) with their thighs exposed.

You are fracking kidding, right? Upper thighs offend people?
And why would you compare the Kinky Boots costumes to a Disney film that was made decades ago?
It all sounds way too 'Prudy' to me.

Both this film and the parade were rated "G". Walt almost came very close to revealing too much of a girl's lower body and I was not sure about the costumes since it was "G" rated event.

As I mentioned earlier I was asleep for most of the time. I was not looking at their legs or lower bodies since I was very bored during the performance I went to.

Posted: 11/28/13 at 4:48pmI enjoyed the Kinky Boots perf on the parade telecast. I'm not surprised that there are those who get all dumbass, over the characters in the show. It's strange that some of thoe same critics have no problem with watching bloody and violent content on tv, yet get all freaky merely because of a group of fiercely fabulous performers. Their loss. Bravo to all the performers who had to do their thing, with limited clothing.

Back to the Noll post, I think she's gonna end up giving out that explanation a lot, she might as well have the publicist issue a statement.
I tweeted about this silliness twice this morning (I don't tweet that often and almost only about theatre). One was favorited by Jordan Roth, the other was retweeted by Daryl Roth. Granted, they both have a vested interest in this particular show, but that's a couple of people I wouldn't want questioning my acceptance of diversity if I make my living on Broadway.

Sorry but it appears to me that people were offended because the performers in Kinky Boots were not comical figures. The role of Edna is camp, these were glamorous strong TALENTED performers portraying people who are not a punch line. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the role of Edna but it's a character role for a master comedian, but it's a bit 2 dimensional. Lola on the other hand is fleshed out, real, and independent character that lives life as a drag queen. Also remember Edna is a WOMAN played by a man, these are drag queens. So the thing that seems to have offended people is at there are people out there who get dressed up and are fierce, confident and proud to show off what they do as artists, both the characters and the artists.
This has nothing to do with their costumes, it was presenting drag queens in the main stream as PEOPLE and not charactures to be laughed at.

G in 1953 is not the same thing as G in 2013. It's idiotic to think it is.

^ But Mary's costume never showed any skin from those parts of her body.

"As I mentioned earlier I was asleep for most of the time. I was not looking at their legs or lower bodies since I was very bored during the performance I went to."
Let's translate that: "They were women so it didn't bother me."
And somebody better call the decency police on ABC too because they show a lot more than just the upper thigh on their family friendly Dancing with the Stars.
