^ Trust me, it is the upper thighs problem. I never found their costumes "G" rated at all. I'm glad that 'Sesame Street', one of the most, if not the most family-friendly show, realized in 2010 that a part of Katy Perry's body was showing too much.

Interesting you have no issue with some of the revealing costumes in Pippin, I call bull****.

KIDS WB was also smart to remove this from the anime, 'Pokemon'.
"Interesting you have no issue with some of the revealing costumes in Pippin, I call bull****."
I didn't watch the 'Pippin' performance, but now that you mention it that probably was not the best choice for a show to air during a "G" rated parade either.
Now, good night.
No child is going to grow up emotionally scarred because they saw *gasp* UPPER THIGHS on television. Or at the beach. Or at a sporting event with cheerleaders. Or anywhere.
p.s. children have upper thighs too - but don't tell them this!
*edit*
That was rude of me. I respect - though disagree with - your opinion. However, I don't believe you will change anyone's mind here as we will not change yours no matter how many examples anyone posts.

"
G in 1953 is not the same thing as G in 2013. It's idiotic to think it is."
They didn't have a G in 1953 anyway--under the Hayes Code films were either approved or in certain rare circumstances they would be released without approval (as was the original plan with Streetcar Named Desire.) But, while I didn't find the Kinky Boots costumes revealing by most TV standards, I can't believe ow this has changed to Beautylover complaining about a few frames where Wendy's animated skirt floats above her knees! Ariel is in a bras for half her movie/Broadway show. So?

You are always going to get some people to complain about something. Can we forget the recent furor when there were thousands of twitter posts and web postings complaining when a white mother and a black father were shown during a Cheerios commercial with an adorable bi-racial child because the commercial showed them as something "normal"? So are we going to be surprised when Kinky Boots gets some neg posts as well?
I don't mind it actually. It tends to get people to talk. You are probably not going to change the bigot's mind..but there are those middle ground people who come to the defense of what's right when hearing opposing views.
It's not like all tweets were negative. There were some quite positive as well. Just like life..
Noticed that when they introduced Kinky Boots. They described Lola as a “Cabaret performer” instead of saying a Drag Queen. I also remember they did something along the same line when Priscilla Performed- except I believe it was calling them Three Friends.
I posted the YouTube video of their performance that BroadwayWorld is using in their Stage Tube article and let me tell you, the amount of extremely offensive comments that have been posted is making me sick. I deleted as many as I could, but they keep popping up. People need to learn to accept it, they can say what they want to about us, but we are here, we aren’t going anywhere no matter what anybody does or says.
I think there's a way to turn off the comments, if you're so inclined to do so.
Did people complain when Priscilla Queen of the Desert performed 2 years ago? That's what is ridiculous if it didn't get the same flack as Kinky Boots. Not saying it should have. But, people are really stupid.

Carrie and the kids decided last minute not to perform because of the cold weather.

I too was distracted while Milly as singing, the kids behind her, especially Teddy looked very cold. I think the concern was preventing Carrie or the kids getting sick so close to the shows air date.
I think Motown and Matilda looked great. Kinky Boots did NOT. Pippen looses something when not being doe in the contexts of the show and in the theater.
It's nice to see little Inez's dress getting another job in Motown.
That opening Matilda does not have a face for TV
Some of those 'revolting children' seemed more like 'revolting young adults'.
Pippin and the Rockettes showed more skin than anything Kinky Boots did.
Rolph is beautiful as hell, but putting a full grown man in lederhosen doesn't make him look younger. It just looks silly.
(Oh my! I think I saw Leisel's thigh!!!!)
Ms. Chenowith with shouldn't 'growl' while singing. And she should learn when her song starts.
Are you kidding me with that TERRIBLE Dorothy skipping down the street in that crappy wig and costume?!
Poor Spider-Man can't get a break in New York.
All of the auto tuned pop 'stars' sucked.
Threadjack: Uh, oh. Lady Gaga just showed some thigh on the Muppet Special, which also has Elton John and RuPaul on. The folks complaining this morning over the parade are really going to have this Thanksgiving ruined.

Tinfoil...The Terrorizing Terminator
FIRST DATE sounded better in the theater than on the tube (where it sounded a bit canned).
PIPPIN and KINKY BOOTS were fantastic (and I love the fur shawl they gave Lola to go with the dress an accommodate the weather.
I wish MOTOWN would've done "Do You Love Me" instead.
That opening MATILDA girl, as had been said, does not have a face for close-up television.
CINDERELLA was also wonderful, but I can't help but dislike Rebecca Luker (I saw Linda Mugleston as Marie the night I went and she was PHENOMENAL)
Orion hasn't rejoined the cast yet, so I wonder if this was just a warm-up considering he didn't leave the top of the stairs until the end. Whenever he returns, it would be for Preston Jamieson, who replaced Orion originally.

I am not a big fan of showing the character of Matilda (no matter which actress they use) for a small snippet of the song at the beginning and then we don't see all four of them until the end for like 10 seconds.
I get the chorus kids of Matilda are talented - but the show is about Matilda and her story and she is barely seen in this number. The did the same thing at the Tony's....Matilda the lead character of the show is barely seen. Three of them have a few seconds of air time. The other leads showed up for even less time.
I would have preferred they use a different arrangement. Not to criticize the performances as they were performed which were fine. But I would like to see and hear more "Matilda" than "Matilda's castmates".
Milly IS one of the Matilda's and she is entitled to have her turn on camera. The idea that someone does not fit what a person on TV should look like is just wrong IMO. They take turns doing appearances and it was her time.

I wish they would have used Felicia Boswell's singing voice in the Motown performance. I feel like the sequences that they have prepared were tailored around not using Lekae which is unfortunate for Boswell because her voice is stellar.
"I'm offended by seeing the performers upper thighs" should just be translated as "There was a dude in a suit top and boxers wearing thigh high red boots and I couldn't process it. I'm a Christian, this wasn't in the bible."

Why should the look of someone's face matter when they're on television. If you think that Milly's face isn't "good enough" for television, then you're just perpetuating standards of beauty. I personally think she looked fine and she is just as talented as the other Matildas. And Matilda isn't about being beautiful, it's about following your dreams and breaking down barriers. So if anything, Milly was an even better choice.

And TheatreDiva, you're missing the point of the show. They are very aware that some of the revolting children are actually adults. They supplement the children with adults throughout the show. They weren't trying to hide it. It's called the magic of theatre.
It's called hiring more kids is expensive and not worth it when we have adults.
Ricky Schroeder linked this video on his twitter of a pastor delivering a sermon all about Kinky Boots and it's fu@#ing brilliant. Those outraged parents should show this video to their kids. The parents might learn something too.

ACL, you are right. Apparently, Orion's appearance was a warm up, so to speak. That was a pretty precarious act he did, during the presentation. According to a very reliable source, he should/will be back with the show in a week. Is it still snowing in NYC? It's dry and 34 F here in Austin.

If I'm missing the point of the show, I guess the point of the show isn't clear from what I saw.
And from what I saw, they can only afford a handful of real children.
"It's called the magic of theatre."
Really?! Thanks for pointing that out to me. I've never heard that term, ever. In all of my years of doing theatre.... Ever.......
I don't need you to tell me what my opinion should be.
