So far I thought Cinderella did a gray job and enjoyed that it was in the theatre. Motown and Matilda were very high energy. Kinky Boots though, still a lot of fun, not the best lip synchers.
Apparently the NBC affiliate here in Madison, WI (where I'm spending the day) must be editing out the performances for some reason because I've been watching since 8:00 and haven't seen a single one yet.
Edited: They didn't edit them out, apparently they are showing the parade on a time delay.

Kinky Boots won't sell tickets because the performance wasn't that great or because middle America is watching the parade and complaining how, "THIS IS A FAMILY SHOW!!"
Oh, Twitter is ablaze with tweets with, 'I had to make my children leave the room'/'What do I tell my children???' /'Thanks a lot, Macys!!!!' after the Kinky Boots performance.
I personally enjoy that the performances are "live" at the parade but I thought Cinderella's performance with the crowd roaring afterwards was well executed.
I think Motown actually came off the best today with Matilda as a close second. Pippin was good, but it feels like it's always missing something when they perform outside of the theatre. The girl playing Liesl sounds a little too mature vocally for that part. And Kinky Boots came off looking terrible. Billy's lip syncing was god awful. If I hadn't seen the show and you told me that one of those two guys won a Tony, I would have guessed it was Stark from the parade performance.
I know Matilda's rehearsal was cancelled due to Tuesday night's weather and they did not practice with the cameras until this morning, so I'm guessing that was the case for many shows.
I also missed the Cinderella performance, so if anyone finds a link could they share it please!
So, TSOM kids couldn't perform due to the weather, but the MATILDA kids could? Those Austrians are such wooses! When Millie started singing did anyone notice little Teddy sitting behind her shaking? It looked like he was shivering.
Theatregeek if middle America is bitching about the cast of kinky boots performing a song about being yourself, imagine if they performed The Sex is in the Heel!!! They need to get over themselves! The performance was kid friendly! Anyways I'm loving the performances and agree that Motown came off the best. Billy is so talented that he doesn't know how to lip sync lol.
I just saw the Pippin performance. Who was that guy in the burgundy colored shorts and horns? Was it Orion Griffiths? I couldn't really tell, as the telly didn't provide a close-up. Whoever it was must be very brave, as that person performed virtually half naked in such cold temperatures. Nice performance by all.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
I didn't see what was on CBS, just NBC. The Sound of Music performance makes more sense now. I thought it was strange at first how they were having Carrie Underwood there to promote it, but not perform it. But, why were they not afraid of anything happening to the actors playing Liesl or Rolf?

"Isn't Rolf supposed to be blonde haired blue eyed?" "And younger than 30?"
Nah, that was just the movie version. I've seen several Rolfs that were brunette. Not all Hitler youths were blond. Also, this actor is in college, and the actress playing Liesl is a junior in college. The movie Rolf was 20 going on 21, and the movie Liesl was 21 going on 22.
The parade performances were ok, although I knew Kinky Boots was going to ruffle some feathers. Cinderella was magical!
