Performances That Should Have Won A Tony

Instead of Tracey Letts? No way.
I think their are many nominees that are WORTHY of a Tony, but not necessarily INSTEAD of who did win.
(But almost anyone that was nominated instead of the Billy Elliot boys.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Don't we already have like six of these threads?
They go on for pages and get ugly.
I will just balance all the bile out in advance by saying:
Caroline sucked. Eyedeena rightfully won!
Mary Martin in Sound of Music was way better than Ethel Merman in Gypsy.
Barbra sucked in Funny Girl, and Carol Channing was the best ever!
There I feel better. Go ahead and say the usual stuff ...
Oh ... but Bob Martin really should have won over John Llyoud Young

Alan Cumming in Macbeth. I know a lot of people are saying that he didn't embody the actual character of Macbeth as well as he could have, but that doesn't matter in my opinion. The award is "Best PERFORMANCE by a Lead Actor in a Play" NOT "Best Interpretation of a Character by a Lead Actor in a Play". His performance was hands down one of the best performances I have seen on stage and he deserved a Tony for it.

Bernadette for Gypsy. I believe it was a far more intelligent and intriguing performance than Patti's equivalent to a stage tornado.
