Would love any recommendations. Trying to narrow it down for two shows that I have time for on a Tuesday and Wednesday matinee. Right now kind of leaning towards Tommy and W4E just because of timing. But would love some opinions if Gatsby or Outsiders should be seen instead.
(the other shows I’ll be seeing are Sweeney, Merrily and Cabaret). Thanks
I have only seen Tommy and W4E out of the four listed. Between those, I would go with Tommy hands down. No question whatsoever.

I would see Tommy and The Outsiders
TOMMY and/or THE OUTSIDERS hands down.
I’d like to throw in Great Gatsby. Saw it out of town, beautiful musical. I think it’s worth it and I believe they do Monday night shows if you can squeeze it in?

Definitely Tommy. I think it's a toss up between W4E and The Outsiders for your second choice.
Tommy and The Outsiders.

For what it’s worth - Tommy is the only of these I bought tickets for in advance.

Three are based on books and some of the others have a degree of "star" casting. Do you have any particular attachment to the properties or the actors involved? Do you want to see a show that's like the other shows you're seeing or something different as a palate cleanser?

I don’t really have any draw to either. Normally like to see something uniquely New York that I won’t catch elsewhere (so I do like the “star” casting stuff. But also like shows that are not going to be coming to a theatre near you or groundbreaking. )

Saw 3 of the four this weekend. I would definitely see The Outsiders. Water for Elephants while not fantastic, I enjoyed, but it was a “glad I saw it, don’t need to see it again.” I hated Tommy and would have walked out had a group of 12 not been with us. But I have never been a fan of The Who or the album back when it was a hit or the first Broadway run.
Tommy.
saw it in Chicago and it blew the roof off the Goodman Theater.

I've seen Tommy and W4E and would *definitely* choose Tommy between those two.
Based on out-of-town reports and early buzz, I'd choose The Outsiders over Gatsby for sure.
If first preview buzz is to be believed, I think The Outsiders has the strongest shot at having any awards impact if that influences your decision.

Only other potential variable: If Illinoise is running during your visit, I would ABSOLUTELY choose that. The show is fantastic. According to the boards, we should expect an announcement about Illinoise's Broadway run tomorrow.
