Curious about how this will turn out, considering the guy they chose to direct it.
He was assistant directing The Color Purple tour when I saw it in LA, and it was a disaster -- everyone seemed like they were in a different show from one another, and most laugh lines were missed (which is a particular concern with TPTGW). I only recognize his name because we found it so poorly directed that we took the time to look up the AD in the playbill. And when I saw the same cast at Paper Mill, when he was gone and Doyle back involved, and it was night-and-day better.
Obviously it's possible that the issues weren't due to his direction, but considering most of his experience is stage managing, and that ADs usually take a bigger role on tours, I wouldn't be surprised. Hopefully this turns out OK.
