THE GOAT - in fact, what happened to that Steve Carrell / Sarah Paulson production?

Jarethan....Went back to check after your post and It was at the Brooks. I had done a search on it a while ago and went back and check right before I posted here and some sites have it listed as playing the Biltmore. One says it played the Biltmore and has a picture of the Brooks Playbill! Thanks for the correction.

I can kind of understand why they're rarely produced because he writes for massive casts, but I'd like to see some of the works of Sidney Kingsley be rediscovered. Plays of his like Men in White, Dead End, or Detective Story still play as surprisingly (and in some cases, depressingly) relevant today.

Soon enough we’ll be at the 30 year mark since “Side Man” premiered and I think it’s desperately in need of a revival. In my opinion it truly is one of the greatest American plays ever written and has been in my top five since the moment I left the theater after seeing it for the first time.

Wow. That was one I really wanted to see but had moved across the country and couldn't get back to see.

Dear god, no. Maybe if he rewrote the last 2/3 s of it -

we'd love to see the brilliant National Theater production with Jefferson Mays in it. The Pasadena production was fine but the cast help make it what it was. Put that cast in a better production.

Dear god, no. Maybe if he rewrote the last 2/3 s of it - it was so overrated due to covid shutdowns and being risqué. I don't think history will be as kind to it as it was received originally. It falls apart."
Then, just from reading your comment, you didn't get it. The play, coming from a black prospective, was brilliant in my opinion. I saw it pre-covid. But Covid had nothing to do with how good this play was. And I am glad I saw it before the whole Rhianna thing because he would not have gotten my money after that. JMO

This show could be a hugecash grabwith any number of Hollywood stars in the leads. I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet. Small cast, unit set, put it in a big theater and pack in the audiences for a 6 month run."
Though I loved the original production, I am wondering if the depiction of the gay relationship in Deathtrap is dated."
You must be thinking of the movie, because the relationship between Sydney and Cliff in the stage version is not presented as sexual. Sidney Lumet, who directed the movie, added the kiss and the implied sexual relationship, because he thought it made sense in terms of motivation. Ira Levin didn’t approve of the change."
Wow. Thanks for that. Cleary I’ve conflated the two!
