She said recently that she wants one more great film role.

It's just a pipe dream, but if they ever make some sort of film of the musical of Grey Gardens, she'd be a good Big Edie.

Only took four posts for someone to ruin this thread.

Since yours was the 4th response, KristinIdinaLauraBellSuttonAliceRipleyIRuvKateMonsterFoster, I suppose you're referring to yourself.

For the record, I usually do find your sarcasm quite humorous

I really doubt she'll do anymore stage work unless it is some sort of special event.

In all honesty, I think she would be the ideal FILM madame morrible. I do however have a feeling that A Little Night Music will be her final Broadway show.

Lansbury as Mother Superior in SISTER ACT might be fun to see. Too long-in-the-tooth?? Thoughts...??

I think she would be a hoot as morrible, but that rakes stage will probably kill the old gal.

Let her repeat her Madame Arcati role in "Blithe Spirits" in a revival of "High Spirits" at Encores. It's a perfect mix. Heck, Christine Ebersole can play Elvira.

I was the one who said she should be Morrible, for the record. I actually think that she'd be excellent, she has that distinguished presence required for it. But apparently I'm an idiot for saying such a thing, so, never mind >>

I was thinking Elle in Legally Blonde, but only if Betty White agrees to play Paulette. (She probably could. That woman is game for anything.)

Veronica in God of Carnage
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

...as Annie in "Annie, All Growed Up" If the original Annie took place during the depression, then Miss Lansbury would be age appropriate for the role brought up to current times.

She might not even be around for too long. Why are you concerned about her employment status?
