Last year it was cutting and pasting old comments about Memphis, and Hunter and Jen pissed off about their red-carpet fiasco.
Predict what will cause all of us to swear we will never watch the Tony awards again.
I think for many on here, myself included, it will be if Laura Benanti doesn't pick up her second Tony.
I may have a meltdown if anyone but Susan Stroman takes Best Director of a Musical. I'll try keep it to myself, though!
If Rory O'Malley wins, there will be meltdowns. There are regulars here who honestly don't remember who he is in the show. There are other regulars who swear he's actually a gay Mormon so he's not acting. And still others hate Book of Mormon and will resent every win because it's not as offensive as they expected the South Park Guys' musical to be.
Barring that, I'm thinking another bad performance from Spider-Man could steal the night. There will be people mad that show is performing at all. If they bomb, it'll be a bloodbath.
I'm guessing we'll see meltdowns over the Sutton/Patina outcome. Plus the Mark Rylance debate flaring over his win/loss.
Scott. Briefer.
Josh Gad winning Best Actor in a Musical.
^That.
And if Sutton doesn't win.
There will be a big Mormon backlash if it wins in some of its more underserved categories-- Score, Actor, Featured Actor and Actress, etc.

Ellen Barkin losing to Edie Falco.
Rory O'Malley winning Best Featured Actor.
The Scottsboro Boys losing to The Book of Mormon for Best Score.
It's BWW- unless Stephen Sondheim magically descends from the rafters and claims every award on behalf of himself and Patti LuPone, people will be having meltdowns.
Is the consensus really that Mormon shouldn't win score or actor though? Really?! Melt away all you want about those- I'll be celebrating when it rightfully takes them both. (hopefully)
Cannavale winning Best Actor

I don't think people would be too wrapped up in Andy Rannells winning. There were a few Gad-related posts that seemed to put him down. Same with Rory O'Malley.
Crazy. Wasn't there a string of Mark Rylance bashing a while back as well? Seems that the only meltdown-proof best actor pick is Joe Mantello then, yeah?
Interesting that Gad has more detractors than Rannells. I'd prefer Rannells to win, because I really think he is playing the 'straight man' role better than anyone else in recent Bway musical comedy history, but Gad was quite hilarious as well, and elevates the jokes to a whole new level.
I don't think Book of Mormon deserves any awards other than Best Musical. It's a great show, but other shows out do it in score, acting, design, and direction.
Quick question off topic - are they showing the design awards on air this year or will they be done before the telecast again?

Tony Sheldon for best actor in a musical. He is awsome in Priscilla GO TONY!
Design awards are being done during commercial breaks this year.
I had no idea there was such ugly anti-Rory O'Malley feeling on this board.
That just makes me root for him more than ever.
I wouldn't be upset if Rylance won. I want Mantello to take it home very very badly but I'm not going to lose my sh*t if he doesn't.
If Tony Sheldon wins however, I'll throw my microwave at the TV.
If David Hyde-Pierce and Catharine Zeta-Jones win Tonys.
If Ellen Barkin loses, I'll scream.
If Benanti doesnt win, I don't know what I will do.
bwayphreak, you'll join the thread that's already 17 pages long complaining about Laura being robbed. Same as everyone else.
