interesting that that the ones putting their all into dress are folks who were on Broadway (BVD, Fisher, Hudgens, Keala ) ....

 

btw  I hate “over the moon” and thought this staging was over the top but agree it was a highlight

This has to be the absolute worst La Vie Boheme I have ever witnessed in my life! The lyrics changes, the low wattage delivery - total disgrace.

Wouldnt the camera crew have filmed before the dress rehearsal too? How else would they know the camera blocking for filmed rehearsal?

There would have been partial blocking for each individual scene and some transitions but NOT a full run through.

BUT the control room picks the shots to show and I have some issues with all the fast cuts.

None of them understand their character. They know their lines and where to stand. Theres no emotional depth to them. This is the problem hiring singers who are not actors.

Why did they change the spoken dialogue for La Vie Boheme? I get why they wouldn't want to use all of the sung lyrics but that confuses me.

Totally agree.  So low energy after the uptick with Over the Moon. It just was dragging on.

They should have put in Kyle Dean Massey in place of Brennin since they look exactly alike.

I am shocked the Larson family approved this whole circus. Wow.

Vanessa crushed her song and is looking hottt. La Vie Boheme was too slow. Think the pace needed to be faster.

I disagree. She played it as if she was having fun with the song.

She missed the humor of the self-important seriousness that Idina Menzel brought to the character.

More like Fiasco...lacks edge and this is the best FOX could do casting Rent? Sad a big disappointment.

Yeah, the cast is all wrong besides a few. And Mark should not be sexy or a good dancer. It's not his character at all.  

Man oh man. This is like "Dirty Dancing Live" territory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again- dress rehearsal  it's a complex song and I can almost see people  "saving it for the day"- still something to be said about filming as if the audience will see it cos they just might.

 

I think people on here are way too harsh. To the average person this is a well put together production .

You have a point- to much of the viewing audience this isn't too bad- their standards are lower-  ours may be a bot too high.

 Take away-The ensemble is wonderful!
