The fact that Ragtime is winning (not counting PM's) is restoring my faith in the BWW community.

Amen to that, adamgreer! I totally thought it was going to go the other way (not counting PM's, of course, and not that it is over)!

If you've never seen or heard anything from Ragtime, why on Earth are you voting in this category?
Is it, like, because Eyedina was in the original cast?

While I admire Rent in many ways and think in many ways it's a better show, I have to say Ragtime.

If we're talking back in the day...my vote has to go to RENT.
And I did see the OBC of Ragtime.

You've still not answered my original question. if you admittedly haven't seen or heard anything from Ragtime, why are you voting in this category?

It ran about two years and closed because of sky-high running costs coupled with Livent's bankruptcy and Garth Drabinsky's legal troubles. It could've run for much longer if not for the latter factors.

Ragtime opened on January 18, 1998, and closed on January 16, 2000, playing a total of 834 performances. As for why it closed, that depends on who you ask. It had a cast of 54, and a mammoth set that must have kept operating costs very high. Then there was the Livent/ Garth Drabinsky fiasco. The show posted a closing notice immediately after they stopped doing capacity business, when they were still making some profit.

because I like Rent, so I am supporting a show that I like. How much do you want to bet that I am not the only person on this thread that has voted for Rent without seeing or hearing Ragtime?

Tough call. I kind of hate myself for saying this but: Rent.

This is probably the cruelest question anyone could ever ask me, but Rent, just because of it's cultural effect.

Because we are going for FAVORITE, I think that can include people's ignorance of a show. Besides, it's a game, for fun. If we had to know both show equally, no one would have voted for the earlier rounds.
