I thought it might be fun to make a thread where we talk about any specific moments we are looking forward to regarding the very first post-shutdown performances of our favorite shows, or maybe even a specific fantasy moment you have imagined that youd love to see play out. For the first Hadestown performance, Ive had this vision of the cast walking out with their masks on, and after Andre makes his entrance, he slowly walks to the edge of the stage and removes his mask to thunderous applause, as the rest of the cast follows suit. He then says his Aight?!, and the show begins. How magical would that be??
And I know this will NEVER happen...but can somebody convince Patti to sing As If We Never Said Goodbye at Companys first curtain call? Its probably the most perfect song for such a moment, and who else could possibly sing it and elevate the moment even higher? Do I need to start lighting candles and performing incantations to manifest this? Someone call the Idina Menzel groupies and tell them to light their candles and help me

All opening/reopening night curtain calls being captured and posted on social media/YouTube. I won't be at any first shows back so this would be great to see.

Viral videos of anti-maskers fighting with ushers and other audience members.
Kidding…. Please none of those.

Opening night fantasy: It's September, I'm in New York, and Kat Dennings has broken up with Andrew WK and is inexplicably dating me (though it's not an Official Couple since even in the face of perfection I have weird issues with commitment and coupling). We attend opening night of Hadestown and thanks to my celebrity date, I manage to talk my way into Tim Minchin's entourage as he and a few of the odder lights of Broadway commandeer a secluded piano bar for the night, where everyone sings Beatles and nineties Britpop until dawn.
The piano bar is also hosting the cast of DuckTales on Disney+ which has been uncancelled by popular demand, "Community" style. I get to meet David Tennant and Catherine Tate, and talk Danny Pudi into maybe taking a lead role in the musical I finally finished writing. And on the way out the door with Kat, Alex Timbers returns my call and tells me he wants to workshop my show in October.
...hey, you said FANTASY, right?

As I’m standing in line to get into “Six”, I notice Jake Gyllenhaal standing behind me. I strike up a conversation and as we get near the doors, he says “Hey, do you wanna skip this and just go to my place?”
This is my opening night fantasy.

I wish someone would accurately know what cast members are or are not coming back to Hades.
Many believe it won't be Amber or Patrick. Cast to be announced is a scary notice.

It could be nice if the original/surviving creative teams give some kind of pre-show or curtain call speech.
It would also be awesome if past cast members attend. Imagine sitting down at Hamilton and Renée Elise Goldsberry is next to you? Or Kristin at Wicked? etc.

Prior to his stint on Jeopardy, I'd never heard of Aaron Rodgers. Now he make my Ovaltine boil.

Oh don't worry. I'm sure you'll even be lucky enough to see a bootleg of these shows within less than 24 hours after reopenings. I KNOW people want to be there. I KNOW people want to know what it was like. But does anyone have any respect for the actors or is it just "me me me"?

Nope. Just have respect for the actors and not wanting them to be distracted their first night back in over a year. Which does not equal entitlement. Try again.

Fairly safe to say most shows will do this, in addition to actual press, in the same way usual opening night curtain calls are frequently released.
I also think it would be cool if past cast members could cameo in the shows, but that of course is hugely complicated, will never happen, nor do I want to take away from current cast members' stage time. But imagine if you went to Wicked and there were 6 different Elphabas from years past, changing for every scene?? How fun! (At least, for a niche group of people.)

Bring them back in cameo ensemble members? Sure. But it is 100% unrealistic to have a different Elphaba for every scene.

Posted: 5/12/21 at 1:26pm...opening night fantasy... Scott Rudin is dragged onstage at the Music Man and has to atone for all his abuses. Eggs are thrown at him and he’s humiliated. Sutton Foster then reads from a list of all the other abusers on Broadway (producers, directors, casting, crew members, designers, cast members, etc). She then joins hands with Hugh and asks the audience to leave the theatre with them and never return until solid change has happened! No more abuse, no more sweeping everything under the rug, demand for more inclusivity, better unions, and safer working conditions with more diversity!

You seem to have missed the point that 1) this thread is for our fantasies and 2) I literally said that in my post. lol

Ahh. I've just seen someone say that before somewhere else...can't remember where. And even in fantasy world it's a wild concept

I can only imagine the roar of applause that will follow after Glinda says, "It's good to see me isn't it?"

I think "Being Alive" will have a MUCH deeper meaning than it did pre-pandemic. Bobby Conte Thornton said this in an interview that I watched last year during the shutdown. I know it won't happen, but my fantasy is Katrina Lenk singing "We are alive" as the last line. I wonder if she and the audience will get a bit emotional when she sings the actual last line?
