Cousin Lois Erdman Wright, "the palmist of the Hamptons!" She is featured in both documentaries and declares to Little Edie, "Im NOT a Gyspy" when Edie tells her she "should have worn a costume" to read palms.. :)
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
For those who aren't long time subscribers of HBO, there is a function that allows one to start the movie over from the beginning. I'm not sure if it's an HBO thing or a provider thing (I have digital cable with Time Warner), but it's definitely something to at least check out if you're not going to be home at eight, or you want to watch it again, but don't want to wait till the next showing.
Yeah, its called a DVR and all cable and satellite services have them. Most people are familiar with Tivo, which is a DVR for those who don't use the one supplied by their cable/satellite service.
I'm so excited! It will be nice to revisit the Edies.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
I"m specially looking forward to it because all this time I've been wondering how these women ended up the way they did; and neither the documentary nor the show gave you that info. This film supposedly will do that. Can't wait!!
Well, you heard wrong. Everything in the film is based on documents and letters from the real women. Also, Albert Maysles (one the directors of the original documentary) was technical advisor on this HBO film as were several Bouvier/Beale family members. Only the sequence of Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis' visit is all heresay as there is no documentation of any of Jackie's conversations with her aunt and cousin during her visits to Grey Gardens.
I don't get HBO. Can I come crash someone's party?
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
I don't know if I was impressed by Drew Barrymore, or if she was just a product of good direction. Either way...it was one of the most amazing HBO films. I also have never openly weeped watching a film in a while. It was fantastic.
I thought Drew was fantastic. She was true to the real Edie, yet retained some of her own personality. I don't know if that makes sense, but it worked beautifully.
Great Movie! Just finish it. Jessica Lange is superb! there were times that I forgot that she's an actress playing the role. she IS big edie. Drew was great too!
Brian, that does make sense and it is one reason I had a problem with her Little Edie. I kept seeing Drew Barrymore poking through. Jessica Lange was brilliant as Big Edie however.
Those Blocked: SueStorm. N2N Nate. Good riddence to stupid! Rad-Z, shill begone!
How funny-I couldn't stop seeing Jessica Lange while watching big Edie. But it doesn't matter to me that I was always aware of who the actresses were. They were terrific.
I also was constantly aware of Christine Ebersole in the show, but that didn't take away from her magnificent performance.
