Why does the idea that somewhere on the internet, there is a place where a minority of people can say bitchy things, sometimes about them, bother them so much?"
I'm reminded that Lea Salonga insisted that preview discussions should be banned or something from evil chat boards like this, during the Allegiance previews, yet all the creative criticisms in the preview thread were echoed in the reviews. That doesn't always happen, but ignoring or attacking the very fans who make the effort to approach the art and share their experienced opinions (e.g. Whizzer) is shortsighted at best.
I'm of the opinion that smart performers should just ignore discussion boards anyway because their skins will never be thick enough for criticisms given by audience members (some are warranted, others not, but they probably read all the same to those who are emotionally vested). But the producers and creative teams should check out where the buzz is.
