Yes, the block option is still around, but you can still see a blocked poster's post in a thread if you hit reply.

And you've always been able to report posts....now it's just easier, and must also mark the post itself to the admin....making it easier for them as well.

I should know this But where is the block feature?

I was reading over the comments on said post and came across this comment.
Thank you for the post. But unfortunately for BWW (and Back Stage) chat boards draw traffic and revenue. Back Stage is the worse of the offenders with the encouraging of negativity with ‘The Bitching Post.’ Answers for Actors will soon go live with a post though about how to track down the people behind the anonymous screen names.
This is very invasive and highly objectionable. Rob, would you mind speaking to this if such a post sees the light of day?

This is dumb. Art is meant to be critiqued and changed so that it gets better. If you don't want to be critiqued, find a traditional job where you sit in a cubicle all day and no one even knows or cares that you're there.

If you go up to your settings, it is in upper right corner in between logout & the mail icon. Then at the top of your settings page there will be a message board area in red. The block users feature is the top thing. Once you click on that, you can type whatever screen name you want in for blocking. Just make sure you have the name entirely correct or you might block nobody or someone you had no intentions to.

I'm curious as to how exactly they intend to do that. I have no picture to trace, my IP will only take them to my service provider, & the email address I registered with isn't connected to my real name or any profiles that are.

Back Stage is the worse of the offenders
That's well wrote!
So now they are going to doxx people who express negative opinions about shows? Are there no adults working in NYC theatre?

The simple question then is why? If actors want to retaliate, sure, but that never ends well--for the actors who are in the public eye, because as soon as they cross the line as Patti Murin did, they make more enemies than friends, including those who would have supported their work. Those in the public eye and who seek celebrity are expected to follow different requirements of professionalism, whether that's fair or not. Broadway is a small enough community as it is. A professional would ignore the naysayers and try to cultivate the opposite, the same way smart producers look through all the reviews and use positive pull-quotes. We don't see producers pulling out their guns to retaliate against negative press, do we? (And if they do, that doesn't reflect well on the producers.) The same logic applies here.
Entertainers are going to be criticized up and down until the end of time, and that's just the way of it.

I'm late to the "party", but what exactly prompted this new "report to mods" feature?

Again, according to Rob, nothing.
"We’d been talking about making it easier to report posts that violate our guidelines (and/or common decency). And while that update was scheduled for a later release with a few other site features, we pushed it forward today and got it up. I’m proud of how quick our team did that, and I’m pleased with the number of helpful reports in the few hours since it launched. (Since it’s early evening launch, we’ve made few more tweaks to it as well to make it a little easier, thanks to those who send us feedback on the feedback!). "

Just saw this in the comments on Patti's post: Again, thank you for your post. You are very articulate and intelligent, which I admire. If you have any suggestions as to how to make the boards better, from a poster’s perspective, I would love to hear! I’m meeting with Rob this weekend for lunch.
Sounds like a real My Dinner With Andre. Do we really think Rob is going to do anything more than prostrate himself before Patti and kiss the ring?
The countdown to this post's deletion begins now.

#theshroudofmurin, haven't you heard? Rob is catering directly to her because of all the traffic her Bachelor recaps bring to the site. She wrote a blog post about how mean this board is and asked for it to be scrubbed from the internet so in response the feature was added to appease Her.
This is getting deleted too, AC.

The report to mods button would've been helpful when phillypinto was trolling us every day.

I agree, that's when it should've been implemented. But don't worry; he's still around.

People! The more credit you give her for the button's implementation, she more credit she can claim for it.
The more you point out that it was going to happen anyway & the independent factors that actually went into the decision, the less ability she has to say "Look what I did!"
And the fact is that it was planned to happen and it happened. She's irrelevant.

Has a reporter been assigned to cover the Murin-Diamond Summit this weekend, or will it be off the record?

I hope this happens because then horrible people like you could take responsibility for their actions and not hide behind their computer screens spewing hate. If you ever met Chad Kimball in person you would realize how kind, smart, and talented he is. Using the term "mentally retarded" in 2016 is just sickening, so if someone could burst your ignorant, hateful, moronic bubble of anonymity, so be it. You're despicable.
Im so glad this happened, and I wished she called more people out. I hope Rob blocks people who constantly violate the rules and who only contribute racist, sexist, bigoted, offensive, hateful crap.
