That quip from Ebersole will get her next year's Best Actress Tony despite John Tartaglia's annoying presence.
Re Sweeney, the revival is garbage. Pajama Game won because it is a huge hit and Sweeney has never done great business despite overpraise.
The show seems to be a bore that deserves a betterb treatment. Forget Radio City. And will someone get a better makeup artist for Julie Andrews.
I agree, as much as I love Julie Andrews what was going on with her make-up?
despite John Tartaglia's annoying presence.
are you on crack he was a highlight of the evening!

"are you on crack he was a highlight of the evening!"
Thank you!
The was probably the only bright spot of all the presenters.
the revival of sweeney is garbage?! you ARE on crack fflag.
have you even seen the show?
btw. the republican puppet thing was amazing.
...despite John Tartaglia's annoying presence.
I couldn't agree more. How many more years are going to go by with him and Rod presenting awards? In 2004, it was smart considering that the show was eligible that year. In 2005, it was pointless and grating and this year, it was totally unfunny IMO. It was just like...why are you still going up there with your puppet? We know you won the Tony. *Restrains self from making a snarky remark.*

And Kelli O'Hara. When they dimmed the lights for the In Memorium, her face was shining like a lighthouse.
He looked like he gained a little (as did Ramirez). Anyone else think so?

A correction: WICKED lost the Tony but Tartaglia didn't win. I guess it still smarts, huh?

Perhaps he was asked to go up there with his puppet??? You don't actually get to be on the Tony's without being invited. I'm pretty sure he wasn't standing around the stage door with the puppet, begging to be a presenter.

I think John did a great job as a presenter too. He looks like he's gained just a little bit--he looks very healthy. He keeps getting better and better looking--last year was an improvement from the year before (he looked like he had be getting more sleep).

Yeah... both John and Sara gained a few... Oh, well... John is still GORGEOUS!
I wasn't bothered by it, as I love puppets, but is it just me or did it seem like his puppeteering skills have gone downhill since he left Avenue Q? The voice sounded different to me, and Rod didn't seem as real as he usually does...
And Sara didn't look any bigger than she ever has. I think she was wearing a more flattering dress last year, and possibly a better foundation garment.
I want Alan Cumming! Cumming! Cumming! Please. Give him the hook. He and Rufus W. can go on the road in The Odd Couple.
Back to the topic at hand, did she come up with that line, or did a writer or who? I wonder if they had to go through a few presenters before they found one willing to say the line with John (who has gained and looks in excellent condition), if,in fact, the writer's created it.

I'm sorry... the revival Sweeney is GARBAGE???

I thought that puppet was funny, and made a good point, others may disagree, and that's why I don't like to mix politics with entertainment.
As for Sara Ramirez, she gained more than just a few. She needs help!
I'm more than likely in the minority here, but the "Republican puppet" line was totally unneccessary. I tuned in to see the Tony awards, not a debate in the House of Representatives.

Oh please, it was one little comment that everyone seemed to be fine with. 2 words, not some big Michael Moore speech. It could have been worse, plus he deserved it. What an a-hole we have as a president, he has gotten worse and worse in my book.
Whatever. I don't think producers should push political views, that's all. Everyone else on this board may agree with the line, but I don't.

Could someone tell me what the republican puppet joke was(the quote)? I want to put it somewhere, but I dont remember the quote well enough. Thanks!
It wasn't the producers that wrote that line - It was an ad lib. She didn't do it in the rehearsal this morning.
