KJ, you make snarky remarks about anything people say or comment. Like I said, I wish you every happiness and hope Alice is there when you go. Id hate for you to be disappointed.
I didn't say she doesn't feel well... I just expressed the fact that I would be disappointed if I didn't see her. I also did not accuse her of anything. Maybe she doesn't feel well. I hope she feels better. I said I would be disappointed if I didn't get to see her. How that is entitled or whiney or self righteous... I'm not really sure.
If she needs to take a night off for her health... fine... for her voice... fine... for personal reasons... fine... for professional reasons... fine... but the idea that a performer can just take a night off without acknowledging there will be a lot of disappointed people... it seems short sighted... biased.
Why name call? You make yourself look silly.

not nearly as self invloved as you when you bitch and moan and claim she's trying to screw people over and disappoint them.
Stop throwing tantrums and deal with it.
shes been performing non stop since Arena Stage..give her a break..and She WON the tony..she deserves a break (sunday, monday, tuesday)
----------
she's been doing the show 8 times a week for 6 weeks.
why don't you **** off.
Boo hoo! It's her job! She had 2 months off between DC & Broadway. Her winning the TONY is more of a reason for to be THERE.
The back and forth is silly, obviously... but I didn't claim she is trying to screw people over... I'm sure that's the furthest thing from her mind... but... the consequences of her absence is a lot of disappointed people... regardless of her intention.

If Alice isn't there, than she must be pretty damn sick. This is the woman who's performed sick before, and directly after breaking a finger. She's a trooper. I'm sure she feels awful that she can't be there. That being said, people do have the right to be disappointed, but not mad at Alice.
Agreed!
And... I don't think anyone was angry at Alice.

Do we know her reasons for being out? For all we know she could be super sick.

Alice Ripley has every right to call out if shes not feeling well, or whatever.
but BOY do I feel bad for her understudy- going on (for the first time?) the night after she wins the Tony? Talk about a huge GROAN from a paying audience. bad situation all around.
I understand the disappointed people in the audience...I'm sure there will be many.
BUT, frankly, all full time employees get to take time off: sick days, personal days, vacation days. It seems like unfortunate timing, but she's gotta do what she needs to do.
"Boo hoo! It's her job! She had 2 months off between DC & Broadway. Her winning the TONY is more of a reason for to be THERE."
So? What if she is SICK? Then people would be complaining how she should have taken off if her illness was noticeable and didn't give 100% in the performance. There are a million reasons why she could have taken off. Grow up.
It's my job to teach. And somedays, I need to take a day off.
I'm sick.
My kids are sick.
I need a mental health day.
The circus is in town.
My cat died.
I have jury duty.
The sex was incredible and I just need more of it.
Blah, blah, blah. It's a job, and it's acting. Not like she's not showing up to do emergency heart transplants.
excuse me..i don't understand why certain people are cursing or getting their souls into this..CHILL...
I was referring more to the people who said that it's because she needed a break. If she is sick, that's a different story.
I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that people deserve time off. That's a no brainer. But the fact that it happens to be the first performance AFTER she won the Tony and made this big, huge speech. I mean, it sucks. I'm sure a lot of fans bought their tickets in advance hoping to see her Tony-winning performance the first time after her win, and there will be a lot of disappointed people in the audience. Sure, it's totally justified, but it does suck.
Oh, okay defyinggravity07. That makes more sense, even if she is entitled to take time off.
Oh, Steven. It's BWW. Of course people are going to get in an uproar. It's what we do. Rather makes us special.
I heard there are very few people in the audience. And I heard David Stone was seen walking around and shaking his head.
ljay889, the show just started..i doubt you know that
The show started at 7pm. And AdamGreer is in the audience.
The big group groan at curtain is worth the ticket alone.
It wasn't up on TKTS, and there were no tickets available online as of 5:00pm, so it seems it was sold-out? I know tomorrow's sold out as well, unless she calls in sick again?
AdamGreer texted me from intermission
direct quote about Jessica
"Dear jesus. She is awful awful awful. Its a nightmare."
^Awful, really? Well, not that I don't respect AdamGreer's opinions, but I'd like to hear an unbiased response about Jessica. Hopefully people post reviews. I'm curious about Kyle Dean Massey too.
I wonder if they let people get refunds. I mean, technically they shouldn't, but a lot of people were going specifically to see Alice and because it was the first performance after the Tonys.
They have to let people get refunds. Alice's name is above the title. Bobby's name is above the title too, so if he is out you can get a refund as well.
