Shocked it's the end of the year.
this really should of been just a 6 month limited engagement.

How so? They've been profitable nearly every week, and Sir Andrew got his four shows running consecutively.
Ouch! Good thing they didn't borrow the original production's slogan: NOW AND FOREVER.

It seems as though this following Six Degrees in the sense that both were good/average revivals but didn't feel very needed.
Im just glad I got to see it, having not seen the original, was hoping to see it again
Oh too bad. I saw this revival with my mom and she loved it. She's hard of hearing, doesn't understand much English dialogue, and she just adored the dancing Cats. It's a great family show. I don't get the snobbery towards this show.
Most people didn't expect this to become another "now and forever" run. It was the original revived for what will be a year and a half. Not bad.
BTW - I do think that if Nicole -what'sherlastname - had starred as Grizabella, it might have made this a bigger hit
A respectable run, and a smart move to announce this early. I predict they'll do rather well over the next six months.
Kinda strange they aren't just going straight through the new year, though.
FROZEN into the Neil Simon?

Frozen is already confirmed to take the St. James.

Completely agree with everything BC said.
This season was also crazy with Dolly, Sunset, Saigon, and Falsettos. That's not even counting the new musicals.

Not necessarily though. With New Year's going over a Sunday/Monday this year it means that most of the tourists will be back out of the city by Tuesday or Wednesday. So that first week of the year is not going to be the most profitable week for most shows, better to close up on the high of that week between Christmas and New Year's.

Not at all. A cast recording would have been a terrible investment to make (there are already countless recordings)... now imagine spending all that money to make a recording and then have the show close shortly after.
I have to admit I am a bit surprised. Cats is such an easy and reliable show to sell to international tourists. Of course it wasn't doing great business, but it ran for years on much less. It looks like they are closing to concentrate on launching the tour. Or maybe Cameron wants the theater for another show?

I'm not sure Cameron has much to do with this production. The London one seemed a pure RUG production - and ALW had said he had little to do with this one (maybe it was one of those "in arrangement with RUG" and even if Cameron did, I don't think he has a say on the theatre where Cats is.

They didn't make a dime. Send it away
Its going to tour looks like. I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
Sad for those who will be out of work - but this revival was so unnecessary.

Wow - how fortunate we are that one of the investors of the production chimes in on here...
