Thought it was permanent for the run.
Ricky - No Moustache
Stand-by Joined: 2/6/12
There was no mustache last Wednesday night when I saw the show.
My cousin works at GENTE in Buenos Aires and informed me that photo was taken around January 2012 -- over a month before EVITA even began rehearsals. Ricky Martin spent time with Elena Roger doing research there. The blonde in the photo is well-known TV personality Susana Gimenez.
No one under 40 looks good with a moustache. Unfortunately, I am under 40 and have to grow one for my next show...In any case, seeing the barefaced Mr. Martin onstage this Friday.

Haven't seen Elena Roger look that young and happy in a photo taken in NYC recently.
That moustache itched me to no end. I said enough and gave him an ultimatum...ME or that damned moustache!

And he listened! Jajajajajaja
I didn't like the way he looked with the moustache, either.

I have it on good authority he waxed his taint in response to the Tony snub.

Ricky is a Capricorn. Is that the crab one?
Martin and Roger should have been nominated. Elena Roger gave my favorite performance by an actress this season, and it is such a shame she is not being recognized. Luckily this revival is strong enough to keep running even though it was robbed of many nominations.
Ricky doesn't need a Tony 'cuz he has a Carlos and that trumps a Tony any day!

^ True that.
I'm sure it will be around until the end of the year.
I heard that he shaved his snub.
Joining the protest, Tyne Daly, Elaine Paige, and Angela Lansbury have also shaved their moustaches.

I thought it was kind of silly that the producers allowed their main box office draw to hide his face. If he was playing Che Guevara it would be odd if he didn't have facial hair, but he's not so whoever thought the mustache was a good idea in the first place is an idiot. Matt Rawle didn't have a mustache in the London production, plus it looked terrible on Martin. I'm glad it's gone.
This is a thread about someone's facial hair.
Yes, I'm judging it.
I find it hard to believe that Laura Osnes gave a better performance than Elene Rogers.
Ripped man, believe it. I saw Laura Osnes do B&C -- twice. I also saw Elena Roger do Evita. Laura was wonderful by comparison, even though it's not half the role Evita is!
By the way, I don't recall Laura Osnes ever missing a single note -- something that seems to be extremely common with Ms. Roger.

IMO, Evita will run as long as Ricky Martin is in it. For the life of me, I can't think of another actor that has the box-office pull that Martin has. Well, and this makes me shudder at the thought, maybe Tom Cruise or Brat Pitt, neither of whom are known for their musical abilities. It's a nauseating idea, but they would draw people in.
Well I think Ricky's snub was in direct response for him not signing the Playbill for that entitled mother and her precious little daughter BEFORE the matinee a couple of weeks ago.

If Ricky leaves, a possible replacement could be Marc Anthony.
^Perfect timing
