I understand that I was just trying to put what somebody can get for the same amount of money in perspective. I can get a cruise that will be my hotel room for 7 days, feed me 24X7, plus provide live entertainment (obviously not the quality of Hamilton - lol). In addition, this money gives me access to a casino, fitness room and outdoor movie theater etc.

I highly doubt the prices on Broadway would change based on Chicago.

Hip, hip hooray for the business model, and three cheers for the oodles of loot it realizes. Let's all now throw our hats in the air and sing hymns of praise to $995 ticket prices. And tomorrow, let's organize a celebratory parade for the top ten billionaires listed in Forbes.



As for those who feel discouraged at being priced out of tickets to the show, take it from one who endured it: you have received a blessing in disguise.

You are right about deterrence, but if 10,000 tickets are sold by brokers for $500 less profit per ticket, that's an additional $5 million to be shared by people who actually make theatre.
