Guys and Dolls harkens back almost a century ago to a long-gone New York. Lots of wonderful casting suggestions in the comments, and Rob Marshall is a top choice for director -- but is there a sufficient market to recover the enormous costs of a film musical? Didn't Les Mis underperform at the box office, as did Nine, Evan Hansen, Phantom, Cats and several others?"
2012'sLes Misérables made over $442 million at the worldwide box office on a $61 million production budget. It was a hit.

Plus West Side Story came out during a weird time for the box office when many films were underperforming. Not that there weren’t hits, but people hadn’t quite come back to the theater in the same way as before the pandemic.
I am 100% petitioning Charlie Day for Nathan. Has the vocal & comic chops in spades. Gad for Nicely and Tatum or Gosling for Sky. Love the idea of Alda doing Arvide if he’s up for it.
I could see Charlie Day as Nathan for sure. Plus, Ryan Gosling has proven himself vocally with "I'm Just Ken", so him as Sky can work. As for Adelaide and Sarah, it can go to anybody that I would be perfectly fine with whoever will play those roles.
