Who ever mentioned Kristin in "Evita," I thought the same thing! It just seems like no one would ever go for it because her voice is so legit, but I think it would be truly fascinating to see the role done that way.
I would love to see Meryl Streep do Margaret in "Piazza," but they probably won't revive it in time for her to do it.

I second Patti as Joanne. I also would love to see her interpretation of the Witch. (Her "Last Midnight" would be amazing)
Bernadette as Mrs. Lovett and I would have loved to see her as Desiree in ALNM, but I feel that she's too old for the role now.
I also think that Marin Mazzie would make a great Desiree

I agree about Kaye Ballard as Mrs. Lovett. She would have rocked.
I would have loved to see Bernadette as Norma Desmond. They could have re-imagined the role. Norma as a former jazz-baby, instead of a tragedienne. Though, you don't get much re-imagining in Lloyd-Webber shows. She would have sung the hell out of the role though.
The comment about Angela Lansbury in "Follies" reminds me of a bit in Ethan Mordden's "Buddies". In it, he's in a leather bar and sees these two tough looking guys talking. He wanders over and hears one say to the other, "Angela could play Phyllis and Barbara Cook could be Sally..."

I would absolutely love that.
I don't really like the musical Grease but as Sandy she could kick butt WAYYYY better than anyone auditioning. It makes me so sad watching that show and how so many untalented people are stealing the chances of actual talented performers like Amy Spanger. Some of the auditioners could possibly be up to par but most of the ones I saw get let into that stupid "Grease Academy" or whatever were so lacking in the magic that Amy and other Broadway performers actually posess.
Kerry Butler as Ariel in The Little Mermaid (or Amy... haha AMY IN EVERYTHING... AMY AS MAX BIALYSTOCK!!) hehe
Kristin as Annie in Annie Get Your Gun (I know it sounds weird but it would be completely interesting.
Robyn Hurder headlining any Broadway show would be wonderful. Especially as Roxie. She's a peach :)
