I second Audra in West Side Story! She'd be fantastic

Stephanie J Block as Eva in Evita

I agree with the poster who said Jesse L Martin as Billy Flynn. I could definitely see him in that role.

Adam Pascal - Fiyero (mainly because I think he'd look adorable in the white tights!) & def Freddie Trumper if they ever were to revive Chess.

I'd love to see Christine Ebersole as Sally in Follies someday. Can you imagine "Losing My Mind"?!

re: Roles You Wish People Would Do/Had Done

Judy Garland as Mame
Christine Ebersole as Norma Desmond in Sunset Blvd
Julie Murney as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl
Beth Leavel as Vera Charles in Mame
Patti LuPone as The Witch in Into The Woods

Glimpse, you're like my twin! All of those are genius.

And I'll second Alice Ripley in Evita, I think she could be fab.
Oh, and I think Lansbury could have been quite the Margo Channing in Applause.

re: Roles You Wish People Would Do/Had Done

I've always thought Patti would be a fabulous Drowsy Chaperone.

And in a few years, I would love to see Idina as Mama Rose.

One time, Patti LuPone punched me in the face...

It was awesome.

Hunter Foster- Freddy (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels)
Eden Espinosa- Christine (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) (Of course she'd be weird at the acting, but the singing'd be intense)

Laura Marie Duncan- Julia (Wedding Singer) (For some reason she strikes me as a Julia...)

Hmm, I don't see Hunter Foster as Freddy at all. I bet he could do it but that just seems like a strange fit.

Christine Ebersole in everything and anything she's right for age-wise.

And for the twinks ... If Julia Murney can't make it through a week of "Wicked" how the heck can she handle "Funny Girl"?

re: Roles You Wish People Would Do/Had Done

I agree with Jesse L. Martin as Billy Flynn also would like to see Taye Diggs in that role. I loathed seeing Richard Gere get all that screen time next to someone who would have rocked everyone's socks, but oh well.

Also, I would have loved to see Nathan Lane play Tevye - his reasons for turning it down were sound, but it's a shame really, I believe it would have provided him something better than the shtick that he is so closely associated with lately.

re: Roles You Wish People Would Do/Had Done

Oh another awesome Billy would be Ewan McGregor, he could also be an excellent Emcee, but truly I would just like him to bring Renton across the pond - indeed his current age would add an interesting dimension to the character now.

Oh and I would have freely given a limb to see Richard Harris play Renton in his prime.

Personal aside:
My best friend had lunch with him once back in 1989 -- I screamed "You waited 4 years to tell me this?? you KNOW Richard Harris??" for about 5 minutes after she told me...in her defense I had not been well impressed with the other movie starts she had worked with-- so apparently she didn't think I would have kittens over this news.

Donna Murphy as Margaret Johnson...although I don't know if she could sing it but she could act the hell out of it.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

re: Roles You Wish People Would Do/Had Done

I most definitely think Patti LuPone would be sensational in Drowsy - AND that Nathan could have been amazing in Fiddler.

other ideas ->

Alice Ripley as Florence in Chess
Judy Kuhn as Mother in Ragtime
Emily Skinner as Mama Rose (Someday, someday...)
Sara Ramirez as The Witch in Into the Woods
Marin Mazzie as Charlotte in A little night music
Christopher Sieber as Julian Marsh

:) Fun Question.

There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

Amy Spanger as Eva in "Evita." OK, I've been brainstorming about Eva's a lot lately. I think she can handle it.
