"Nathan Lane- The Wizard of Oz- Wicked
Anne Hathaway- Elphaba- Wicked OR Cathy- Last Five Years
Sherie Rene Scott- Ms.Lovett- Sweeney Todd"
I second these, for sure! There really are a lot of great casting ideas through out the whole thread.
I also have a new idea (although I don't know how accurate it is because I really haven't heard a lot of his singing)! Raymond McLeod sounds like a Mr. Rochester to me.
Raul Esparza - Judas in JCS(Or maybe Elphaba in Wicked!)Actually, he would have been really great as Tiernan in The Pirate Queen, too.
Chip Zien - Tateh in Ragtime
Mary Testa- as Carmen Bernstein- in Curtains
I agree with....
Betty White - Mrs. Tottendale - The Drowsy Chaperone
Sutton Foster as Anastasia
Adam Pascal: Freddie in Chess
Jane Krakowski as Sally Bowles-CABARET
My picks....
Elena Shaddow in POTO
Cheno in Legally Blonde and NO she doesn't look too old!
And I think Idina would sound great singing L5Y
So would Celia
Also Celia as Nelly in Floyd Collins
Chryssie Whitehead would be a piss as Maureen in Rent if she can sing it
I think -
Anne Hathaway as Belle.
Kathleen Monteleone as Glinda.
I could see Idina being amazing in Last 5 Years.
Natalie Cortez as Demeter or Bombalurina in CATS, and I don't know why but I could see Adam Jacobs as Munkustrap.
"Kathleen Monteleone as Glinda."
I did a workshop with her earlier this month at Telsey. Mark my words - you will be seeing her in one of their shows. Think Elle, Amber, Glinda or Maureen. That's what they told her she'd be considered for.
This would probably never happen on the boards but I'd love to see what Marge Simpson would do with Mama Rose.

IF Disney ever makes Hercules into a Broadway show, Lucas Grabeel should play the teenage version of Hercules...He's already shown he can nail I Can Go The Distance. Yeah, it was kinda changed into a more upbeat pop song--But he still took it to school(And the beginning/ending of the song weren't that different).
Also...
David Bowie-Zoser in Aida
Cillian Murphy-Jekyll/Hyde(the movie)

I've wanted Victoria Clark to play Leona Samish in Do I Hear a Waltz? ever since I first heard it.
Probably because of the shared American tourist concept with Piazza, but it's a very different character.
The songs would sound FANTASTIC in her voice.
I would love to see Audra play Dot in Sunday in the Park, though I know it's already happened.
Christine Ebersole as Mama Rose
Anna Hathaway as her Louise
Kristin Chenoweth as the Drowsy Chaperone
Lauren Kennedy as Janet Van de Graaf
Gavin Creel as the Tin-Man in The Wizard of Oz
Anne Hathaway as Cinderella in Into the Woods

Leslie Kritzer - Evita - Eva Peron
Yes- that would be awesome!
Kritzer did this online chat four years ago where she answered the 'dream roles' question- she has an awesome wish list-
[RobertArmin] One question I always like to ask is: what are your dream roles? What shows would you most like to do?
[RobertArmin] You named West Side Story, what else?
[LeslieKritzer] God, Sweet Charity, Gypsy, Guys and Dolls, EVITA OF COURSE!!!
[RobertArmin] You want to play God?
[LeslieKritzer] Godspell
[RobertArmin] (just a joke)
[LeslieKritzer] no,
[LeslieKritzer] LOLOL
[LeslieKritzer] Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar
[LeslieKritzer] and then the slew of Sondheim
[LeslieKritzer] I mean the list is forever long
Sweet Charity kinda made me go hmm, but I loved her list.

For some reason I always wanted Jenn Gambatese as Mary Poppins.
Megan Mullally: Glinda in Wicked - I know, she's too old and the only reason we associate her with that character is the high squeeky voice she uses in Will & Grace, but it would be so much fun seeing her do popular "stand up honey, you gotta toss your hair."
Oh and whoever said Bette Midler as Madame Morrible deserves an honorable mention too - that one made me laugh!
Christine Baranski (remember her from "Cybill") as the Drowsy Chaperone would be fun too.
Toni Collette would be a fierce Sally Bowles. Would love to see that one. Definitely Colin Mochrie as Man in Chair. Also would love to see Alan Rickman or Jeremy Irons as Dysart in Equus rather than Richard Griffiths.

I just wish Josh Groban would try musical theater. Period.
