I’m sorry but even brilliant producing couldn’t hide an awful score and terrible changes to a perfect film.
Extremely long development periods usually are a red flag.

I could not even watch the Today show performance. If that's suppose to entice me.... OOF. When it comes to shows like this who is in charge of going to the creatives and tell them it just doesn't work?
I think the answer to that question is us, the audience.

good producing would be the ability to see your show is not ready and trying to fix it and if you can't fix it to then walk away and not burn millions of dollars of elderly peoples money on putting it up off-broadway

I found this to be highly enjoyable!! I’ve never seen the film and I’m pretty sure nearly the entire audience got in for free, so it was very chill, silly vibes from the audience to the cast. The audience ate it up, two good Jersey girls on the stage turning in wonderful performances especially Laura Bell Bundy who’s FANTASTIC!! The score is filled with bops! “You’re the coolest person I know” to that high energy song when they all stick it to the mean girl in Act 2. I loved it from start to finish, I could see this being done in high schools, colleges, community theaters, and making a lot of people happy, it certainly made me happy. Bravo to everyone involved, happy closing!!
I always wonder in shows like this who is to blame. The songs are awful. So who does that fall onto? Director? Producer? Who steps in to say "hey this isn't working?" Or is is the their job to try to make it all work? I could not even sit through the Today show performance.

Blame? The show rocks, super fun! I also loved how they dressed Laura Bell as Velma Kelly in the second act.

Well if that’s annoying, you must really be a glutton for punishment coming on this board all the time.
