I wonder how long they're planning to keep this running, especially with such bad reviews.
I randomly saw this last night via 20at20 and didn't even realize it was the opening. Nothing about it gave off opening vibes, especially the half empty theatre. This was a bigger disappointment than I was expecting. Not one good once in the bunch. There was an updated song list paper in the Playbill showing they've apparently cut the opening number and I can't imagine how bad it had to be if they're keeping in the rest of...that. I don't know why they've been working on this musical for so many years and it's still such a bust. Hopefully LBB will be back in a good show soon, since this one doesn't seem to be long for this world.
Have any of the top publications even published a review… ?

1 Minute Critic review ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Targeting those who already love the film, the musical stays true to the original plotlines and eras while introducing a bright new universe, punctuated by heightened physical comedy, MTV golden-era dance routines, and character portrayals that defy imitation. Romy & Michele also evokes feminist themes, including the importance of female friendship, which remains relevant nearly 30 years later.
But the 80s and 90s pop-inspired score (music and lyrics by Gwendolyn Sanford and Branford Jay), while a refreshing departure from all the jukebox musicals, is uneven and, with the show’s nearly two-and-a-half-hour length, ends up searching for memorable hooks.

Opening night was Monday and I know because I was there. The post is wrong.

Or there was a cast opening (with the party) on Monday, and then the official Press Opening (with a review embargo) on Tuesday. Two things can be true -- especially on a show like this that was not expecting a war reception from the critics.
