Rosie O'Donnell is not doing "Annie" after all.

Andrea McArdle is beyond irritating and obnoxious. And there's no way she'll be playing Hannigan.
If they're looking for a "star," I vote for Mullally. If they're looking for who would give audiences most laughs per second, I vote for Katie Finneran. Then again, I'd see her vote for her to play Bess in PORGY & BESS if it meant she'd come back to Broadway.

Posted: 4/25/12 at 10:57pmI'm no fan of McArdle but if you're going to cast her for publicity cast her as Grace. I don't see her being, well, funny at all.

Posted: 4/29/12 at 6:28amI think Megan Mullally would be great in this role but I'm not sure she'd want to play an obnoxious drunk again. It would be good to see her on the stage again though, I'm still disappointed she turned down Anything Goes.

Andrea McArdle was AWFUL as Hannigan and will never play the role on Broadway. I agree that she could make a really great Grace, but she's not cut out for Hannigan. Go on YouTube, she has "Little Girls" and "Easy Street" up. I heard that she auditioned and they said no.
My number one choice would definitely be Andrea Martin. I also love the idea of Joan Cusack! Would love to see her on Broadway, and I would totally buy a little kid being scared of a drunk Joan Cusack.
Brian d'Arcy James would be an amazing Warbucks.

Beth Leavel, Katie Finneran, Jan Maxwell, yes yes yes
Someone who will be hilarious but will accomplish this by ACTING.

Posted: 4/29/12 at 12:58pmKatie Finneran would be too good for words, while I totally agree that Leavel and Maxwell would be great, it feels like something they've already done before and something they can do in their sleep. Finneran has yet to get the chance to headline a musical and this is a great role for her.

bryan2, McArdle has quite a reputation for volatility within the industry. I'll leave it at that.
I'm very curious who they wind up casting as Warbucks. I can't think of anyone better for the role than Danny Burstein.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

S.J.P. Please!!!!! Love her and love to see her get back to her ANNIE and Broadway theater roots. She can work this role. I'd be delighted With S.J.P starring it certainly would make me excited to see not just another ANNIE revival. Also Patti and Bernadette would put a unique mark on the role.

I know Andrea and her family and they are GREAT people -warm and inviting- I thing saying random things against her is unfair when you don't know her .
I think she would be a great Hannigan!!

I think McArdle or SJP would be equally bad. The role requires a comedienne. Of the names mentioned on this thread, I would go see:
Katie Finneran
Jane Lynch
Harriet Harris
Catherine O'Hara
Ana Gasteyer

Posted: 4/30/12 at 12:25pmI still can't get off the idea of Miriam Shor. She has the right look, she's freaking hilarious and she definitely has the pipes. I think they'd be idiots not to approach her. I can't imagine anyone else coming close to pulling off the manic heights Loudon achieved in the role. I'm afraid Lynch would be too insular, which was the problem I had with Kathy Bates. Too deadpan and subtle.
