I think the film would make a great musical.
I loved this movie!
Done right, it could just work....
i loved that movie....It may work.
I think it will be good. Off-Broadway seems like a good place for it too.

Haha, Link, I was thinking the same.
But anyway, I am so excited! Always thought this would make a great musical.
Bare sucks. This film doesn't. Huge difference.
What worries me most is the director. See "Color Purple?" Yeah.
I love Saved.
this could be good.

The film is awesome, and I definitely see it as a musical. There are already several scenes I can think of that make "perfect" inspirations for songs. As a musical, the movies storyline is a no-brainer.

Its already in the works Brian Dannelly's company is producing it in house. I know because I have approached him about making it into a musical four years ago!
I think that this would be great for an Off-Broadway show too. But I just can't wait for all of those teenage girls to get on here and start blogging about how they should bring back Mandy Moore to reprise her role (detect a hint of sarcasm?)
That would actually be really cool...
To be fair I actually really loved this movie and thought it was one of the funniest movies that summer it came out on DVD. And as far as Mandy Moore goes, I wouldn't mind getting that girl onstage at all. Her performance in this movie was definitely her best yet.

I see this working quite well on stage.
Moore seems to be at her best when she's playing a manipulative bitch. She was at her best in "Saved" and was equally good as a similar character in the otherwise underwhelming "American Dreamz."
And before anyone even brings up the idea of her reprising her role for the stage production-- don't. The odds of her giving up a successful film and music career for an extended stint in a fledgling off-Broadway production of a project she's already been a part of are non-existent.
Keep in mind that this is the girl who turned down a starring role as a first replacement in a smash hit Broadway musical opposite a Tony award winner in fear of "stepping away from the industry for too long."
How long was the contract offer she considered "too long," you ask? Nine months.

I find it funny that a old white man directed a musical about the African-American experience - anyways, back on topic, I pray they don't call this "SAVED! THE MUSICAL" I just hate when they do that to stuff. I hope they don't go for camp.
I think 'Saved!' is enough. They were thinking of a musical even when they created the original title. :) Exclamation point/cross.
rentboy: Don't even SUGGEST "Camp: The Musical" I shudder at the thought.

ive never seen it-hey mateo where is that pic from-zac actually looks decent in it.

Ha. Camp is already a "musical" - sort of. And I don't think it was popular enough to spawn a real musical.
Love this movie. I must say though, Jena Malone was the anchor of it all. Without her, it's def. not as good. Hope they can find somebody to fill in those shoes.
Saved is one of the best movies out there.
