I think it is a good idea to do it off bway. It could be very good and even do really well.
Oooo... i can't wait!
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofuI could SO play Roland (Macauley Culkin character). They should audition like, a little south of NY. Like maybe Ky. Where I'm moving in June. Or Ohio which is closer.
What did Mandy Moore turn down?
I've heard this is hilarious. it should be interesting.
Mandy turned down Wicked when she was asked to replace Cheno.
This movie can work in so many ways onstage. I'm so excited for this to be in development.

I can so see the potential for a great song in the part where Hilary Faye throws the bible at Mary.
- As for Malone, I can definatly see her reprising her role on stage. i, for one, will be first in line to see this, with or without Malone, even though I love the idea of her doing it. I think it's a fantastic idea!
"Keep in mind that this is the girl who turned down a starring role as a first replacement in a smash hit Broadway musical opposite a Tony award winner in fear of "stepping away from the industry for too long."
And keep in mind that she's a broadway fan who turned the role down because knew she couldn't hold the role as strong as Chenoweth and she even stated that many times(after that embarrasing Suddenly Seymore duet with Adam Pascal, I would say no to Glinda too)
I love this idea! One of my favorite movies. I bet it will make a great musical.

Fantastic movie! I never would have thought it would make it to the musical world though...lol.
Here's hoping to a cast recording!
One of my friends played Jena Malone's character in the most recent reading. Hopefully she'll be signed on to do this production! She's amazing.

and here's to hoping your friend can act better than Jenna Malone!

That's the reason she gave publicly. How naive of you to assume that's the truth.
Rockabye, isn't that t he scene where they use Tubular Bells from The Exorcist? That scene where they try to save her just slays me. This is one of my all time favorite movies. I will drop everything to see this show next year!

I believe its the scene right after the attempted saving. I love it when Hilary Faye throws the bible and screams, " I am FULL of Christ's Love!"
Yes! I laughed every time I saw the trailer and the 3 times I saw the movie. I keep saying I am going to buy it and never get around to doing it.
I CRASHED MY VAN INTO JESUS!
No more muffins for you! The muffin shop is closed!!
Loved the movie ["I just drove my van into Jesus!" ]
This as musical. Interesting.
Need to have the right cast though.
Maybe Mandy will reprise?
I think Jenna Leigh Green would be a fabulous Hilary Faye.
or she could even do Cassandra (Eva Amurri character).
really? they want to make this into a musical?h that's kinda cool. i love the movie. and doing it off broadway is a good idea. i can't see this doing well on broadway but rather a smaller, more intimate space off broadway.
I think Annaleigh Ashford could be a great Hilary Faye...
SHE WAS REALLY OFFERED GALINDA!!!!???
That's the most frightening thing I have ever heard...
Ooh, I could def see Jenna Leigh Green as Hilary Faye! Great suggestion!
As I said in an other thread, I love this movie. It's always on TV and I always put it on, no matter how many times I've already seen it.
There's some scenes I'm really looking forward to: the assembly with Cassandra being "possessed," the musical they'll put on which obviously won't be JCS but an original song, a nice soliloquy for Celia when she curses and nothing happens and realizes she's pregnant and such, the scene where she thinks Jesus came to her would be a funny musical number, as would a number or 2 between her mother and the head of her school, Hilary Faye's prayer circle, her session "saving" Cassandra, etc. Oh, I'm getting really excited as I think of it!
The scene where Dean tell her he's gay could be done in the vain of "Serious" from Legally Blonde.
That'd be so funny.
*sing sing sing*
Dean : I......
Mary: *sing sing sing*
Dean: ...think I'm gay!
Mary : *sing sing* WHAT??!?!
