SIX: THE MUSICAL proshot with original West End Queens coming to the US

One cinema in San Diego started showing this today, so we went. My husband and I had one other attendant in the audience today.

The pro shot starts out with a mini documentary about the 6 original cast members from the London production reminiscing about some high points in the shows history with some film footage. This was fun, and it lasted about 10 minutes before the actual pro shot. I enjoyed this a lot. It could be longer.

The actual pro shot is a pretty good capture of the show. This was my first experience of seeing the show, so those that are devoted to it may have different mileage. The show itself was quite fun, and I can't wait to see it in person. The actual pro shot was kind of a mixed bag for me. There was too much music video editing. I would have preferred less editing. The performances were good all around, as you would expect, my favorite was Maiya Quansah-Breed, Catherine Parr (such a voice!). However, all were good and the movie showed their performances quite well.

This pales in comparison to the Hadestown pro shot though. It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it doesn't have the same wonderful camera work. It's a more traditional pro shot except for the MTV-like editing during some of the numbers. I'd give this an 8 out of 10. (Hadestown pro shot was a 10 out of 10 for me.)
