I enjoyed the show but kept hearing other songs while watching the show. I'm looking forward to the OBC to see if it was just me.
The song that really stuck out was Dance the World Away. It kept sounding like On the Sunny Side of the Street.
Very excited for this. I hope they do a vinyl issue - a girl can dream of a cast signing event a la Funny Girl, but I’ll settle for a physical release and stage dooring. :)
Not sure when or if we should expect any additional song/single releases, but here’s the link for more info as it’s updated and available!

Still hoping we get this next week!

Is it just me or is this a really long wait for a cast recording? It almost feels like this show has come and gone already.

The release schedule doesn't seem unusual when compared to some of the other musicals that opened around the same time...
Almost Famous - Opened 11/3/22 - cast recording release 4/20/23
Kimberly Akimbo - Opened 11/10/22 - cast recording release 2/13/23
KPOP - Opened 11/27/22 - cast recording release 5/8/23
Some Like It Hot - Opened 12/11/22 - cast recording release 3/24/23
I guess it's only been three and a half months, I don't know why I keep feeling like SLIH opened earlier (long previews?).

Because it feels like it is on its end? I hope not. This show needs the Tony.
Glad to see the release hasn’t been delayed. I’m curious to hear this score.

I wonder what ever happened to, you know, recording the Monday after opening and having it out a couple of weeks later? That's the way it was always done. I don't understand the three-month lag, what's the point? To mix it to death? To take a week to record? To suck the life out of the recording?

I’ll actually agree with you here. The Caroline, or Change revival recorded and released their cast album digitally in about four weeks with a physical release four weeks after that. And that was two days of recording and two CDs of material to mix. There’s no excuse for these other albums.

I imagine payment is an issue of some kind - the show had a pretty slow build to find an audience (which it still kind of is, but in a much better spot). Weren’t they just making above running costs but not real profit around the time of opening? You also have to take scheduling into account, and this show had each individual principle person out with illness at various times in December and January.
Nevetheless, we’re getting a cast recording of this wonderful show, and hopefully people will be able to actually take in the music and enjoy the nuances of each song. I’m tired of the “all the songs sound the same” crap (tell me you don’t have an ear for music without telling me you don’t have an ear for music).
Do we know if they’ll be doing a vinyl release? I’m not big on CD’s anymore but would love to add more cast albums to my vinyl collection.

That lag is fairly typical these days, but it all depends on the show.
For example & Juliet opened 11/17/22 and their cast recording was released digitally on the same day (with the physical CD available on 12/9/22) and A Beautiful Noise opened on 12/4/22 with their cast recording available on 11/1/22 digitally and 11/30/22 on CD (rare case of cast recording being released before their actual Broadway opening night!). Of course, both shows had the benefit of playing out of town productions and, with both shows being jukebox musicals, they had a pretty much set song list.
Digital release is tomorrow!
SiriusXM On Broadway offered an exclusive sneak preview of the album today at noon.

Listening now! So far, so good!
It sounds great!!
I listened to the album and, while no number grabbed me, it’s very well produced and the cast is certainly giving their all. I’m thinking it’s probably a lot of fun to see live if it moves along at a steady clip…
