The place it’s from just posted about the TAKE ME OUT run 5 days before it was announced. I’m not saying it’s 100% true, but the grain of salt isn’t massive.

I like that Eva N is constantly busy working, but I just do not see this succeeding financially. The original was not a massive hit (made worse by the economy at that time). The Deaf West revival's reviews were about as good as anyone could ever hope for a Broadway revival, and it didn't translate into ticket sales.
Also, there are SO MANY other shows deserving of a Bway revival. Burn some money on a revival of PASSION or CITY OF ANGELS instead."
The original recouped it's investment and won a ton of awards. It was both a financial and artistic success. Considering how few shows turn a profit, it was certainly more than a modest hit.
The show is not one of my favourites so maybe others see more magic than I do but in my opinion the recent London Spring Awakening felt like a good solid regional production with some interesting staging choices and not much more - which is fine but just doesn’t scream ‘Broadway transfer’ to me especially given the recent revival. I would be surprised if it happened.
Count me in as someone who thinks it is too soon for another revival, and that Eva is too old for this. This isn’t Grease. It’s a serious drama about kids in their mid-teens. She is more than a decade older than her character is supposed to be. Part of the reason why the original production worked was that many cast members were literally still in high school themselves, and those who were in their early twenties looked especially young for their age. Eva is and looks like an adult and the story would make no sense with her in the lead.
Interesting.
After the HBO doc “Those You’ve Known” began production, there were active talks about a limited run Off-Broadway revival which would reunite the entire original cast. The intent was to recapture the specialness of the intimacy felt during the original staging in a smaller house. But once Lea was officially signed to Funny Girl the thing began to fall apart (my understanding is they were shooting for this season, possibly fall).
Perhaps the 86-inch of this OG cast revival means the London production is moving forward? But I can’t help but wish we were getting it in an Off Bway theater.
I don’t think it’s too soon to revive this work. Many people think it is one of the best musicals of the 2000s, and I’m so glad a younger generation will be exposed to it.

Are you hearing this from SweatyOracle (who has already posted in this thread) or have you heard it elsewhere?
I tend to think it's important to clarify that sort of thing - otherwise we end up in situations where 100 people repeat a rumor from a single shared source, but then everyone goes "100 people have said it, so it's probably true." I'm not saying SweatOracle is wrong, I'm just saying it's important to keep rumors in perspective.

Man, I adore this show, and I'm definitely open to a new revival -- especially if there's a strong directorial vision that sets it apart from the OBC production. But I agree that I don't think this is poised to do particularly well on Broadway. I'd much rather see a run at Stage 42 or something of that ilk.
JBroadway, it's from him. I think he's proven himself reliable enough to at least have a conversation about it, and, personally, I think it's more fun to entertain rumors and discuss them rather than constantly pooh-pooh them. If people would rather I say the rumors come from him, I'd be happy to do it, but I know some can't stand him, and will automatically have a negative reaction to anything he posts, so that's why I label it as just "rumors" and "tea."

They had a West End theatre lined up for the spring but couldn't raise the money in time.
Is the revival that interesting/unique? I know it's a darker take on it, but how much darker can you get? She'll sing it well, but I always consider the two men to be the main leads, so would be curious who they would line up for that.

This is a stupid and irresponsible way to approach things in 2022 when rumors and speculation quickly mushroom as they bounce around social media, but go off, sis! Spill that tea that you got second hand, so you can feel like you’re actually in the know!

Lol this is a tad dramatic. We’re discussing rumors on a Broadway message board. But go off, sis!
"Stupid and irresponsible" for posting a rumor that's already been viewed 19.1K times on TikTok, and also had a blind item on Deuxmoi before I even started this thread? You'd think I was putting someone's life in danger by spreading this totally unexclusive information. At worst, the show doesn't happen and this thread joins the list of hundreds of irrelevant threads on this board. Oh, the horror!

Steven Sater posted this very cryptic TikTok yesterday. I'd expect an announcement this week or very early next week at the latest.

I just don't get this show. I know people love it and I have really tried - it's just not for me
Too any revivals this season! Hoping this is an off broadway revival.
"I've been waiting for this one!! Turn it up!"
In all seriousness, I'm really hoping this rumor is credible. I've heard great things about the Almeida production and I'd love to see a darker adaptation. Hoping it's off-Broadway for the sake of having it in a more intimate space. I'll be buying tickets either way!
P.S. remember the movie adaptation that was announced years ago? whatever happened to that?

Yeah count me in with those hoping for an off-Broadway run. I think that would be a smart move if they do choose to bring it back in any capacity.

Just seems odd when the last one wasn’t even successful. But hey it’s not my money!
