the only ones I feel that have low energy and dont seem interested are brian ,remy, phoebe and skylar..
i think Jonathan B. Wright is awesome..he needs to be put back as a melchoir understudy..I would DIE to see that!
and I dont think lea lacks energy...I just feel she is a bit too comfortable with the role/show..either take a break or leave while your respected in the show..I happen to love her..but I do think she needs to get her act together a little..and I've heard great things about Socha

You can't believe a word that Lauren_T says when it comes to Spring Awakening. She clearly has a personal vendetta against the show. She never hesitates to bash it in some way when she gets the chance.

no personal vendetta here tom! I just see things that others are blind to. Jon Groff is the only one who is always on!
Jon B Wright has watered down his performance so much. I am sorry, but it is true. His masturbation scene is flat! Once, one of the best scnenes, is now flat flat flat. It is like he doesn't care. And it is not a character choice. I understand the straight tone delivery later in the show character choice, but he just comes across as not caring anymore. And his singing has not been Broadway material since day one!
The rest of the OBC need to call it day and move on with their careers. Its been too long. I think they are holding on in fear of lack of work once they leave!

Like Rent, this show suffers when the original cast leaves.
Unlike Rent, I can't see it running 12+ years even with bad replacements.

Blake Bashoff is not confirmed to be leaving. They are working on it as we speak. (Spoke to him about it Saturday.) It could still fall through, but nothing is definite yet. I, for one, will be sad to see him leave...not matter when it happens. For me, he is the best thing about the show...and I do love the show as a whole.
Lilli Cooper (whom I love) was not on Sat. Jenna went on but was not filling the shoes...she wasn't bad...just not strong enough.
I would love to have Socha fill Wendla...she is amazing, I think she totally owns that part...and I've seen her play against both Jesse and Groff...they were both incredible with her.

My theory is that the replacements will actually be better than the originals. Now that it made its name on broadway, more genuinely young looking kids will audition, with raw talent and they will actually be happy to be on broadway.
Anyone else agree?

Ehh, I disagree to the extent that it could be true, but it may not be true. The original cast created something special, and at the time, had no idea that it would go on to become what it did. Most of the original cast was pretty "raw" talent too. A lot of them didn't have any Broadway credits, and were making their debuts. That doesn't necessarily mean they're automatically going to be better than their replacements, however. If Alexandra Socha replaces Lea Michelle, for example, I know she'll give a better performance because I've seen her do it already as the understudy.

Some think replacements like Blake and the new Ilse are better than Johnny G. and Lauren P., and some think they are horrible and that the show will never be a success after the rest of the OBC leaves...I'm confused. I still have yet to see it, and judging by some opinions, I hope it will still be there within the next year so I will have a chance to see it. I can see why some may think it isn't nearly as good without the OBC because that is how I feel about RENT and while I don't think SA will last 12 years, I am hoping it lasts for a while.

I've seen almost everyone except for the earliest of the ensemble that left.
Just like anything: replacements are a matter of personal choice.
I like Socha more than Lea.
I like Jesse/Melchi more than Mattchior.
I LOVE Blake Bashoff AND Johnny Gallagher
I am not thrilled with Jenna (although she's really nice)
BEST Adult Men: Spinella without a doubt.
Best Adult Women: Christine without a doubt.
ILSE: I prefer Lauren's singing, but prefer Emma's acting.
No one else is as good as JBW as Hanschen.
None of us are right, none of us are wrong. It's a matter of opinion and that is all.

I saw the show twice this week and thought it was spectacular. I think it is actually better than when I saw the show in July. Groff and Michele were fantastic, better than I've ever seen them. I felt that Blake gave a great performance as Moritz, but that his voice was weak. Emma Hunton is fantastic as Ilse and far surpasses Lauren Pritchard in vocal talent.
I also saw Murman and Socha as understudies for Thea and Martha. I felt that they were weak in these roles and the ensemble sounded empty without Lilli Cooper's beautiful voice. Matt Doyle was the understudy for Hanschen on Wednesday night, and he was fantastic.
Losing Groff and Michele will be tough for the show.

Posted: 3/25/08 at 9:11pmIt's just time to mix it up. Come May, the show will be alot better than it is right now. The new people will have that excitement that comes when performing a new part. They'll have more emotion than called for. That said, absolutely nothing is wrong with the show now. It's fantabulous!

I love his performance, but he is out so frequently that he should not be bored in the least.

While JBW was out frequently this year, a few weeks of it was out of his control. (Dec 30 '07 - Jan 20 '0.
Lea Michele has missed over 25 shows this year.
