There was a concert production of this new piece last spring at 54 Below, and they're doing another two nights there in a few weeks.
The concept album just released and as I have tickets for February (admittedly because I'm a fan of Dylan Saunders and Lauren Lopez) I decided to take a listen. Currently about halfway through and I think it's just gorgeous.
Anyone else listening and have thoughts? I'd love to see this developed in New York as a full production.
Reminds me of Mozart: The Rock Opera. If SIX is successful on Broadway, which is likely will be, then it could open up the market for these sort of contemporary takes on historical figures.
Would still love Mozart: The Rock Opera and Elisabeth to have English language productions.

Where can one find this concept album?
I'll be a proud mama for a moment....one of the creators is a former student of mine. Success couldn't happen to a nicer young man.
And I'm so bummed I cant be there.

Interesting idea. There are a pair of Australian musical theatre composers (Kansley and Lidert) who have been working on a jazz musical about Jackson Pollock, but this one sounds more appealing to me.

It's on Spotify! I think I saw someone on Twitter say that it's on Apple Music or coming soon? But I don't have it so I can't verify that.
I think it's just gorgeous. I'm going to try and get a friend to go to the concert with me. It feels like a musical for artists by artists. The songs strike a very resonating chord. So glad you posted about it, treblemakerz!

^ There's the Spotify link! Not sure if it's on Apple Music or Amazon yet but they did mention it was coming.
Thank you!
My pleasure! And congrats on the success of your student. You have a right to be proud!
Bumping this back up to update that it seems to now be available on Apple Music and iTunes!

Thank you for promoting Starry! The album was independently produced, mixed, mastered, and distributed by the writers and a very very very small producing team, so word of mouth is all the show has right now! Please keep spreading the word if you like the music so the show can get closer to mounting a full production! The album is on every platform right now! This week is especially important for the show, so please tell your musical theatre loving friends to download the album, and to leave a review if they like it!

And I was able to find it on Amazon this morning.
It is also available on Google Play music.
Listened to half of it today. It has a "rent" vibe to it. Wasn't really crazy about it. It's not horrible bit it just feels to much like it wants to be "rent" like. JMO
