I normally see only one or 2 a season in NYC since I live in MA but 3 of my 4 NYC trips were to visit Hofstra (I'll be attending in the fall) as well as to see a show, so this was a big year for me in seeing more things!

I do live in New York, the only reason I was able to list them like that is because I've kept a list since I saw my first show years ago so I just copied and pasted the section in that fell in the dates mentioned.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

I saw no plays this season, unfortunately. I really wanted to see Coast of Utopia, Little Dog Laughed, and Frost/Nixon.
I saw:
Grey Gardens, Company, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, The Apple Tree, Les Miserables, Spring Awakening, Curtains, LoveMusik, and 110 in the Shade. That's a total of 9. Plus a couple of off-Broadway stuff (No Child, In the Heights, and some others).

Shows that opened this season:

Company
A Chorus Line
(Seeing Grey Gardens next weekend)

And those that didn't:
The Drowsy Chaperone
Wicked (x2)
25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (second time)
Avenue Q
Rent

Didn't make it to any plays this season, sadly. Next season, for sure! Can't wait for Xanadu as well :)

Laurhearts ~

I should probably specify... Other than The Vertical Hour and the first time I saw The Year of Magical Thinking, those were all student rush or lottery (or gifts) ~ and even TVH was at discounts all but the last time (because I'd had a front row ticket for the original closing date when there were no codes, then when it moved, I forgot to ask if I could use a still-good code for that ticket.)

But as a first-year Special Ed teacher and full-time grad student, I need some kind of stress reliever. I have some friends who drink. I go to the theatre. :)

It would be easier to just name the shows (on Broadway, at least) that I haven't seen/didn't see this season. They are:

Legally Blonde
Jay Johnson: The Two and Only
How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Other than that, I think I saw everything. This calendar year alone, I'm up to 88 shows (not counting repeats) in the greater NYC area.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

"Then why is Hairspray on your list? That show is quite a few seasons ago."

He was asking about shows you saw within the 2006-2007, which didn't necessarily mean shows specific to that season. I dont have the exact dates, but here is what I saw:

The Producers
Drowsy Chaperone
The Wedding Singer
The Lion King
Curtains
Mamma Mia!

I saw Spring Awakening and Mary Poppins May 20th, 2007, which falls a bit after the dates you mentioned.
