Maybe that's all still being worked on, and that's why the holdup. Alex Lacamoire just posted on social media about the album in a way that makes it sound like the process isn't over -- he said he was having a great time making (present tense) the album, which is pretty specifically not a "wait till you see what we've made for you" kind of thing.

Ashford and Groban sound SUPERB, but I'm still noticing that the ensemble sounds muffled. Regardless, I am beyond excited for the release of the full album. I just wish they'd give a release date!!!

Thank you! I thought I was crazy. On both “The Ballad” and now “My Friends”, it sounds like the ensemble was cut and pasted into the mix from a lower quality recording. Them coming in sounds too jarring, and they sound like mush in comparison.

Mush - that's exactly what I hear too! I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the intention of the ensemble sounding so muffled... but maybe when it all comes together it will make more sense. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt because this production was stellar!
Annaleigh’s “By The Sea” is now streaming!
They’re really releasing this album the Hadestown way? That was so annoying.
The score has a ton of music to mix and master. I’m assuming the individual releases are to get them out there before the Tonys.
I enjoyed about 90% of Annaleigh's performance but the way she does the seagull noise absolutely drove me nuts.

Look, I get they want to build anticipation ahead of the album's release and everything, but releasing the recording individually track by track is getting a little annoying - can't they at least give us an option to pre-order the whole thing at this point? The way they're doing it feels like the Broadway Cast Recording equivalent of microtransactions.

I completely agree - at this point I'm over it, I don't want any more singles released... I want them to wait for the whole thing. Instead of building anticipation it's creating frustration and making me less excited for the full album. Maybe it's just me, but I am CRAVING listening to it all the way through, and all the skipping around of single tracks... just save them. Release them together, they'll hold more weight.

It's weird because it feels like they're just dropping singles whenever they finish mixing each one individually or something, with no build up. Like KPOP had some advance singles but they announced which days each one would be released and had a whole campaign around the release of their full album, but for this it's really just like "oh another one is out now?" I agree that they should at least have a placeholder album on streaming services, so that you can have the singles automatically added to your library (at least that's how it works on Apple Music), but they're all being released as actual singles which is strange, though the Johanna single is actually an EP that contains all the singles released so far, but I'm not sure if that's the label's doing or if someone at Apple Music just wised up and threw them all together.

Pretty much what Hadestown did. It was annoying then and it's annoying now.

Not really. HADESTOWN released the songs in groupings based on the featured character(s) in the songs

Yea, the EP thing is happening on Spotify as well.

This By The Sea ends the same way the track on the OBC does - without the 'here comes the bride' gag on the harmonium. Why? In the theater, does Ashford 'play' the gag at the end? Why did they change it for the recording, and furthermore why was it the same on the OBC? So bizarre

Maybe they feel that it wouldn't work well on the recording.
