I took from Theaterfan’s statement only that it’s a little ridiculous that she’s already trying to distance herself from the material that made her famous. That’s a reasonable position, especially since she just won the Tony for that material.
No need to pile-onsomeone for a throwaway statement expressing opinion."
This is basically all it is. Nicole has... always had an ego and always wanted to be the star, maybe that's why she pulled off Norma so well. A Vegas Residency is something you expect from somebody bringing their lengthy career to Vegas. People cited Gaga's Residency of covers, but neglect to to remember that it was in conjunction with her standard show that was 2 nights a week. She did do a return engagement of Jazz and Piano, but also she's Lady Gaga.
She wanna do a few gigs in Vegas? I'm sure a venue would love to have her, but there is a difference between a few gigs and a Residency. You all know that.
As for Audra vs. Nicole for the Tony since some people think Im a bitter Audra stan? Literally didn't care. I would have preferred it go to Jasmine or Jennifer, but is neither here nor there.
I also don't get the dig at her Masked Singer or AGT appearances. She probably makes more money working one day of those shows than she did in her two years of Sunset. Audra would give her left ***** for one of those gigs.
If we're talking about theatrefan4 phrases such as 'burning through goodwill' 'thinking anybody cares about her', 'before her ass was a judge'.....'barely a step up' seem a bit toxic to me haha. It reads to me as a little bit dismissive as if she is a nobody that needs to get back in her place and that we're only tolerating her for a split second in this one role how dare she get so arrogant she thinks we will accept her in anything else. I don't find the phrasing to be sincerely expressing opinion or throwaway statement, but someone who is trying to tear someone down.
So that's why it feels a little toxic......
It was toxic. Meant and written that way.

Yep. Theatrefan4 has been extremely pissy for a while now when discussing Nicole. He clearly dislikes her and is now trying to do "it was just a throwaway."

Sorry, but you are letting "Theaterfan" off the hook way too easily -- he has made 5-6 posts (in this thread alone) knocking Nicole, not to mention the numerous other threads where he has been "piling on". He has every right to do so -- just as we have every right to call him out on it.
Theatrefan4 must be pretty successful to feel comfortable looking down on Nicole’s achievements like that. We should all be so lucky.
Can any of you even name a Nicole Scherzinger song without looking it up? Exactly.

In all honesty…do you really think they will book Nicole Sherzinger for a residency at the 4,000 plus seat Colosseum. Let’s be real.

Caesars has different sized venues in addition to the colloseum. And theses days a residency can be defined in many ways. Just ask Ben Platt.

People loved Dragging Ben's delusions of grandeur, but dare you say the same thing about Nicole...

I think a smaller venue at Caesars Palace- like the one that Dionne Warwick performed in pre-Covid- could work for her. She is a very talented performer- clearly loves her craft- was awesome in Sunset- and won in competition with some very good performances- this was no throwaway race- this was a very competitive race and she won fair and square. She, like JLO - is an entertainer- she could be a very successful niche performer- appealing to the theater crowd and more mature audiences- and if the show is really good with good reviews- she could be a great success! I hope so- loved her in Sunset- and hope she can parlay that into other triumphs. As for Audra- she is at her peak in many ways. She was phenomenal in Gypsy- and after a rest- hoping she comes back to BWAY soon. After seeing her in Porgy and Bess- and Gypsy- there is nothing this talent cannot do. She has earned her acclaim- and I hope she continues to pick projects that utilize her many talents- and challenge her- and the audience- to think about relationships and issues in new ways.

Josh Groban just had a five night residency at Caesar's Palace, it doesn't have to be a long series of shows. I don't know what her team is trying to negotiate though.

Hmmmm…I loved her performance in Sunset, but to mention her in the same breath as Gaga and Josh Groban? Gurl is not in the same stratosphere as either of them. Outside of theater buffs snd the random Pussycat Dolls fan, the general population response to her would be “Nicole who?”

You might be onto something but remember nothing has actually been announced. It seems a bit of a stretch to treat Nicole terribly for a daily mail rumour - and even if true we have no idea what it would actually be. As opposed to Ben Platt which was based on a tangible announced tour and the ticket sales spoke for itself.
I don’t even think you are necessarily wrong that Nicole could set herself up for failure if she’s not careful, but there is a difference between saying that and saying her ‘ass was a judge’ lol.

Who knows what is being negotiated- it could even be a truncated version of Sunset Boulevard on stage at one of the venues. The scenery is not all that difficult to produce- and this could be a hit- something different- and with Tony and Olivier awards under her belt- could be a draw for tourists. She could do this for a month of two- and be paid a very nice sum- so that could also be a possibility.
It's so funny to watch everybody here freak out about if the Tony and Olivier winner has enough legitimacy to be allowed to do a Vegas residency, meanwhile the most recent performer who was announced to be doing one was Ashlee Simpson.

No. Firstly, Cleopatra's Barge no longer exists. It was replaced by a "speakeasy caviar bar" Caspian's. Pictures online show that they gutted & rebuilt the whole venue. As it was, I didn't really like the old Cleopatra's Barge as most of the audience had a poor view of the performer on stage. For Dionne Warwick I did pony up for a table seat in front of the stage, and it was very intimate & awesome. Ms Warwick was singing right to me. But everyone at the tables below around the "barge" were pretty pissed. From the way staff dealt with it, it seemed like it was probably a nightly complaint.
Voltaire at the Venetian has a capacity of 1000 vs 4100 at the Colosseum. I think the size gives them an excuse to boost prices for the big headliners. But for the regular show held there - Dita VonTeese's burlesque show - prices are pretty reasonable.
I'd rather see a show there than the Colosseum because it feels much more intimate. But like Groban mentioned above, playing the Colosseum means you can do less shows and play more people.
I think people on the East Coast forget that Las Vegas is only a 4 hour drive from Las Angeles. Driving that long is no big deal for people on the West Coast, so lots of Los Angelenos do head to LV for a weekend to see headliners.
Ticket prices can also be cheaper than seeing someone in Los Angeles. I was comparing prices for a band that is playing Hollywood Bowl in the Fall, to prices for their East Coast shows, and good Hollywood Bowl tickets are 4 times the price to their shows on the East Coast.
Kind of seems like Scherzinger already has a residency in somebody’s head.

I'll admit when I first saw this rumor announced I did get excited because like others said, I think she's a great entertainer. And she's spoken at length about how she wanted to do theater for so long but no one took her seriously or believed she could do it. In the Tony nominees round table she talked about doing a small series of concerts where she just sang the songs she wanted to sing as a way of showcasing the breadth of her talent, and I'd assume some of that material would make it into a potential residency rather than just the songs she's already known for.
