Can't wait. I helped kickstart the UK version, and even have my Patrick Bateman business card USB drive!
I hope we get a cast album this time.
They've got to have an eye on Broadway for this, I'd assume.
I'd imagine they would hold off on the cast recording until they feel the show is locked in and finalized, which hasn't occurred yet.
I couldn't be more excited for this! I doubt Matt Smith will transfer though which makes me sad.
If ROCK OF AGES peters out towards the end of this year/winter 2015, is it conceivable that Second Stage transfers this to the Hayes to kick off their residency?
Yay for speculation.
I really did want Matt Smith to transfer with this.
"I doubt Matt Smith will transfer..."
Safe assumption. From the NYTimes blog post: "Carole Rothman, the artistic director of Second Stage, also noted that the production would have an all-American cast."

Matt Smith was very good, as was most of the Almeida cast. But it's a cast that could easily be replicated and even improved with New York actors.
The score is off-a-piece, well integrated into the story and style, but not necessarily a melodic, listen-to-the-cast-recording-hourly group of songs. Oddly, it is semi-jukebox, as the five or six 80's pop songs that Patrick loves and lives by are woven into the plot as actual book numbers.
This looks great, and I'm happy about the American casting, Patrick Bateman is supposed to be sexy bad boy and Matt just isn't that.

Will be interested to see how this piece has developed. I saw it twice at the Almeida and loved it. I'm also in the camp that loved the score. Really hope there will be a recording finally.
Really hoping this gets a recording, I've only heard it via you-know-how and it's a fantastic score.

hmmm wondering if Benjamin Walker could be involved if they are recasting with all americans, he played Bateman in several of the readings/workshops.

Might Benjamin Walker not read as a little old now? Otherwise though, I think he is great casting. He was sex on legs in BBAJ.
I don't care if Ben Walker looks like he's sixty, I want him in everything
It's funny how every character in the audition breakdown is described as "good-looking." Ha. And it's Telsey. So I'm sure it'll be a rehash of Wicked people.
I really liked this show in London, though Dunkan Sheik's score was reliably flat. I do wish that they would amp-up the amount of blood used in the show, as I think an almost comically large amount of blood (like Q.Tarantino movies) could work to great dark comic effect. Either way, I am happy that this is going places.

^ the creative team said the new production would include new/reworked songs and more blood.
"It's funny how every character in the audition breakdown is described as "good-looking.""
Basically every character description in everything Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has written includes that.
