A willingness for anything no matter how simple, complex, acceptable or unacceptable is still a erason to rejoice for independent thought and hope!

Posted: 5/2/07 at 6:16pmYou might as well sign a petition for GYPSY starring Ethel Merman to be released on dvd. CAROLINE OR CHANGE was never taped. It doesn't exist. The HBO plans were aborted early in development.

I love this show and would like nothing better for its release, but i'm afraid to say a petition will not work in the slightest. I work in the DVD industry and we get thousands of letters and petitions to release titles.
There are so many things to consider, the main one being clearance from everyone involved. The cost of physically making a DVD is relatively cheap. What is costly is the rights, which you would buy for a few years only, and then have the option to renew if your want.
DVD comapanies also expect a very quick return on their investment, which puts alot of companies off from investing in this type of project.
Sad but true

I really don't get this-0-is it rumoured ot be in the vaults somewhere?? I know for a while PBS was said to have filmed Secret Garden (I wish they had) and then it turned out they had only briefly talked about it--in the early 90s
