There is also a great act 2 show curtain which is a full stage size blow up of the newspaper giving the identity of Dolores away!

Have to question the producers logic of still selling this at TKTS for 1/3 off, they should up it to 1/2 price now, that way they might make more money, by having more punters!!!!!

Most of that house on Monday paid 20 pounds!

Actually, the show has been basically full for the holidays - Bank Holiday Monday is always bad for theatre goers, particularly a beautiful day like that. Admittedly there are a lot of offers out there - we're in a recession, its good to give incentives! Also, it will die off now that the schools are going back. Just keep supporting.

What a fab number to play in a club/ bar! I love so many numbers on that CD.

My ab fab fav is 'When I find My Baby', perfect modern comedy number, had me in stitches again on Monday!

Whoopi, on US TV, is all up for it.
I see this in New York by the end of 2010 and if anyone gets it there it will be her!
I just hope the naff New Yorkers take to it more than they did the equally sublime, '9 To 5'. This coming Sunday they lose a show that could easily have had a 2 or 3 year run on Broadway.
That hack from the NY times has a lot to answer for.

I managed to get down to see the marvellous Sister Act again, I am glad that fairygodmother was correct a few posts down and that the theatre was nearly full, just some empty seats in the wings, I would of thought Bank Holidays would be a good day for business, as I said there were a few empty seats, but this did not stop the roof coming off the theatre.

As I was in the balcony last time opposed to the stalls this time, I kept my eye out for Julia Sutton, she was brilliant, however Katie Rowley Jones, Claire Greenway and the rogue gangster Chris Jarman were also superb, I mentioned Shelia, Ian and Patina last time I saw the show, they are all first rate and it is obvious that Patina is a star in the making, overall a well cast show.

Sorry about the pun, but I did not realise nuns could have so much fun, now that is Stilton.

The press were wrong with this show?

And, having loved this show so much, against all my expectations (see my previous posting) I am, most certainly, going to see it again. I can't stop playing the cast album/cd/download (whatever we call it these days - oh, for the heady days of vinyl, at least you had something physical to hold on to ).

I LOVE this show. Is it a bit naughty of me to use my Dad's birthday as an excuse to go and see this show (for the 3rd time) when he doesn't really like Musicals? I'bve already asked for some really good seats for Christmas, lol.

I had a bit of a Musical Renaissance myself this year, having seen La Cage Aux Folles, Priscilla, Sister Act and Hairspray within 3 months of each other. (Maybe not much for some of you, but for me that's a lot).

La Cage was very good, but different in feel to the other 3.

The other 3 go like this:

1. Sister Act
2. Priscilla
3. Hairspray

I was soooooooo disappointed with Hairspray. Brian Conley was great, so were Tracy and Motormouth Maybelle. I just didn't like the songs or the set at all. It felt too preachy as well, and for lack of a better word, fake. Whereas in La Cage, Sister Act and even Priscilla they play characters which are believable to me, the characters in Hairspray seemed just that - characters, performances.

Priscilla was good fun, but I think what edged Sister Act in front for me was the fact I didn't know the songs in advance and ended up loving them. With Priscilla, I already knew I liked the songs, so wasn't surprised that I liked them in the show. With Sister Act I loved the songs and was therefore excited to be able to go out and buy the soundtrack and have lots of new songs to learn and sing at the top of my lungs to in my car.

Another thing I've thought about is the costumes. I will only talk about them from a purely aesthetic point of view. With Priscilla they could be as outrageous and colourful as they liked (and they were amazing) but with Sister Act the costumes had to be Nun's outfits, so the way they 'jazzed' them up in various different ways was also amazing, and surprising.

Honestly, from my point of view, and from a lot of yours by the sounds of it, the thing that makes Sister Act a winner is the element of surprise. The surprise of liking it. I loved the film and expected the Musical to be good, but not as good, especially when I heard they WEREN'T using the songs from the film. Couple this with the fact that it wouldn't feature Whoopi or Maggie Smith I didn't think I'd cope (any chance of Maggie taking over from Sheila?? (I can dream)). By the end of Act One I was completely won over and knew that this was my new current favourite West End show. Now I just have to convince Whoopi to recast Deloris as a white man, and that she should go for a complete unknown from North West London with little experience and I would be taken to heaven!!!!
