re: 'Sister Act- The Musical' -London Palladium

I was really hoping Sister Act could hang on through Valentine's Day for my next visit, but it sounds like it may need a few extra prayers for that to happen. I was planning on Sister Act, Priscilla and maybe Legally Blonde making it possibly my gayest visit to London ever. But if I can't get to one of those, I'll probably see Woman in Black as I've always wanted to see it, but opted for musicals instead.

Just been announced that Sister Act is extending its booking period to September 2010 (very loose term) and Shelia has agreed to stay on until February 2010.

I'm pleased to hear Sheila Hancock is extending her stay - I'm hoping to take my Mum back to see her in this in December. Extended booking periods don't always = extended runs and the Palladium is a huge venue to fill, so fingers crossed the forthcoming TV ad will attract a few more attendees.

Any word on possible replacements for the Mother Superior role?
Seen some shows in my time....

Booking periods and actors contracts do not the same run make!

All their contracts will be up by March/ April.

re: 'Sister Act- The Musical' -London Palladium

Actually they're up in May, but that means nothing to the run. That will be the end of the year's contract, and then it will negotiation time for the next contract, as in all shows.
The show is booking til 18/12/2010 on See Tickets, and that's all the info that's out there for the run.
As in for the people who are ringing a death knell for the show because there is a TV ad running - there's a Jersey Boys ad, and no-one has any worries about where that's going. I don't see how its anything other thatn a sign of what a producer has to do to keep a run going in these days of media savviness. I wish Spring Awakening had a chance to do something similar, it should have had more marketing to get it out there.

What does that mean? I'm just rounding up the info that's out there, including changing the misleading info about actors' contracts, and saying that it doesn't add up to anything negative about the show's run. People are too busy thinking the worst - and this is a show that, on the whole, people on this board like and support!

Dear Angry Fairy Godmother!
Every time you post on here it is full of negativity towards the members on here. Despite your thinking otherwise, there are very few on here who think ill of your wonderful show. Just read back on 99% of the postings in this very thread! While your there read how you jumped down peoples throats straight away too!
There are people on here who are deeply involved with the theatre scene and know the insides and out of the business, time to show a little respect to them me thinks!
Time to relax and just go with the flow. Your show opened to some great reviews and it is holding fast.
Your gonna wear that wand of yours out waving it about with such anger!

Ok, sorry if it came across angry - I genuinely didn't know what you meant. I can't remember ever saying anything negative about this board - I'll look my past postings, but I'm a happy person and don't want to think I've ever upset anyone or sounded like a ranty type. And I meant it when I said the people on this board support the show - what I meant was that when people who say lovely things about the show are perpetuating rumours of it not doing well, its not a great sign, what must the haters be saying! And I know that there are people who know, and there are people who don't, so I was just pointing out some things I know to be true, to save speculation. Sorry if I jumped down anyone's throat.

re: 'Sister Act- The Musical' -London Palladium

Ok, I've read through my other posts on this thread, and don't think I've been bad at all, only about 3 posts before now, and nothing negative. What I am guilty of is using 'people say', or being too general - I want to make it clear that whenever I'm talking about people, I mean the theatre community and the publis at large, not this board. I often post here after having read WOS and Dress Circle too, but often than not only post on one site (don't want to be boring and repetitive, and don't want to be a shill or a naysayer for any show/idea/etc/etc) - so I suppose sometimes my messages can sound directed at a poster when they're actually directed at the ideas read in about 5 threads and forums. Does that make sense? Sorry to be ranty, something I've just said I wouldn't be - I'm ranting in a positive and groovy way! I just never want to leave something negative, I want to be understood...

re: 'Sister Act- The Musical' -London Palladium

Looking at the posters on the Underground last week, I noticed that Sheila Hancock has been bumped up to star billing - presumably because she's on Over The Rainbow and Patina didn't get the Olivier.

As much as I respect Sheila Hancock, Mother Superior isn't the leading role and isn't this a bit mean to Patina - adding insult to injury?!

re: 'Sister Act- The Musical' -London Palladium

Not really, Patina's name won't sell tickets. Sheila's however will. Im guessing they have probably had a bit of a box office boost since Sheila joined Over the Rainbow.
