I think a lush production of Night Musicwould be incredible in the Beaumont, especially since LCT doesn’t tend to skimp out on the size of the orchestra."
The Night Music at the National's Olivier Theatre, a space not unlike the Beaumont, was magnificent. Of course, that starred Judy Dench, Siân Phillips, and Patricia Hodge, directed by Sean Mathias. LCT would have to reach for the stars in order to compare."
That was almost 30 years ago.
ANY revival immediately causes people to draw comparisons to previous productions, but it seems strange to me to single out that one as the one that an LCT production MUST live up to because the theatres are kinda similar.
If anything, potential casting for a new revival would probably be "competing" with the last Broadway revival.
