How would Sondheim feel about us poring over his home?
Seems kinda intrusive, especially when we have no intention of actually making an offer.

Totally. A public real estate listing after his family decided to put it up for sale. How incredibly INTRUSIVE.

I like that he had some of the Sunday in the Park flats around the house, like the monkey and the boat.

I have never understood the nyc literati's idea of heaven as Litchfield County.

I'm aware of that, QueenAlice.
I just asked a question, without judgement.
Why are his personal belongings featured? An attempt to raise the price by drawing attention to the fact that Sondheim once lived (and died) here? I'm not necessarily judging The Widower Sondheim, more the soulsucking capitalism of real estate agents.

Jay Lerner-Z, I think you' know we're on the same page in a lot of ways and I've defended many of your observations, but some of your recent posts come off as scolding other people for having very unexceptional conversations.

The ceiling is nice, the rest is a bit cluttered and mundane, kind of like his townhouse. Speaking of being intrusive, have we seen the will? I'm just curious how much and what his widower got.

Well, that's how they might seem... but not how they are intended.
The question I first asked was a genuine wondering how Sondheim would have felt about this. I am interested in him, in addition to enjoying his work. He seemed like quite a private person. Happy to talk about his work life, but not so much his personal life. Except for maybe his childhood. I'm also free to feel a little discomfort about such close examination, and free to express it. Surely all opinions are valid here.

Also, kdogg, thanks for defending me, it's appreciated. You may know that I've had some unfair and harsh comments aimed at me for a while now, in all directions. I may have just subconsciously turned off any filter I once had. What do I care if I'm liked or hated at this stage.

Looks like a pretty typical real estate listing to me, but perhaps all these years of living in our capitalist society have numbed my ability to notice how exploitative it is.

Perhaps.
Typical real estate listings often feature on this site, I suppose.

And when I saw that my first thought was, "man the steam from the shower could really ruin all those books in a hurry if you don't have a super powerful exhaust fan"

I saw the boat but I couldn't find the monkey. Which room is the monkey in?
I also noticed guitars. Did Sondheim play the guitar? Or do they belong to his husband?
