Posted: 9/14/05 at 12:20pmA friend just offered me tickets to next Saturday's Spamalot matinee. I have tickets to a Friday night show in January and I just really really want to see the stars in performance. Do they ususally play the matinee or do their understudies? Is Hank Azaria still on leave? Thanks!

Posted: 9/14/05 at 12:40pmYour chances of Sara are better on Friday though. If it's as far away as January, go ahead and go twice, you'll forget some really funny stuff and enjoy yourself.

Posted: 9/14/05 at 1:49pmWhat about Tim & David? Do they usually perform in the Saturday matinees? Those are who I really want to see. Thanks!

I went to a Wednesday matinee and everybody was in...except for Hank who was (and is) temporarily out!

They are contracted to play all 8 shows every week.
Whether they choose to show up or not is another story.

Posted: 9/14/05 at 2:40pmI believe Sara's contract ends in December. That is all I am aware of. It was stated in Entertainment Weekey.

Posted: 9/14/05 at 2:41pmIs she still choosing to only play the performances she wants to do? Or did Nichols' talk change this behavior?

Posted: 9/14/05 at 2:56pmif I'm correct, David is on vacation this week (Sept. 13 - 19). Tim was out last nite, too, making a lot of very unhappy people.

Posted: 9/14/05 at 5:26pmYeah it did. I walked by on my way to DRS, and there were lots of angry, loud customers demanding refunds and exchanges. I actually felt sorry for the box office staff (even though they're notoriously nasty) because many of these customers didn't quite understand why they couldn't just exchange their tickets and come back tonight. It did not appear to be a pleasant scene at the Shubert last night...

Posted: 9/15/05 at 5:30amGO TO BOTH! The understudies are just as good as the regular actors, just not as well known. :)
I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

Posted: 9/15/05 at 6:13amAs I understand, most of the leads should be out of the show by the time January rolls around. Sorry

Posted: 9/15/05 at 6:43amMost of the leads leave in December (Hank Azaria has extended, I believe, because of his leave of absence).

Posted: 9/15/05 at 6:50amI went to the Spamalot and I had a full cast, no understudies. It's a great show, and the whole cast except for Tim came out after the show. Yes, Ramirez did come out and she was a sweetie.

Posted: 9/15/05 at 11:23amI feel sorry for all those people who demanded their money back---they missed wonderful people! (I saw the understudies for Tim Curry and Christian Borle when I went to the show in July---I was NOT disappointed at all!)

Posted: 9/15/05 at 11:51amNo one should be disappointed with Spamalot's understudies...they;ve performed as much as the principals at this point! :o)

I have another question.
I'll be going to NY during November and on Telecharge there are only Left or Right MEZZ seats available (row C)... however, according to the site, these are partial view seats. Are these seats good or should I try a different show (I've already booked for WIW, Sweeney and Piazza).
Thanks!
