Sorry I haven't been here lately, been really busy. My son loved the SF production last weekend. As Meredith pointed out, I guess his choir (about 40 HS students) was really into the show. They sat up in the balcony and audibly enjoyed it. My son was really interested in the obvious improv and script changes that occur. He noticed a line about the principal not showing up to the bee because of a hunting accident, and realized that this news reference happened after I saw the show in NYC. He was impressed that they seem to be constantly rewriting the script to reflect current events. One of his favorite TV shows is Who's Line, so he obviously likes improv. I agree with you Liotte, that it's wonderful that this show is doing so well, and that more people are going to get to see it in Chicago, Atlanta, SF, and tour. It's exciting that there is room in the theater world for a "little" show like that, and that successful shows don't have to have fireworks, and trapezes, and other sorts of special effects. Long live the Bee!
Just wondering, what's the most amount of times everyone has seen Spelling Bee (SF, Chicago, or NYC)? I'm up to 7 times here in NY, it'll be 8 or 9 on Saturday.
<-- And to help spread the Bee love, I present my new avatar!
shamefully, i have only seen this show once. ONCE!!! wish i could see it again...
and btw, that thing about the principal in a shooting accident-hilarious!!!!!!!! i also love how they change the script around. like when logainne got out the night i saw it in october, she was like "THAT'S RIDICULOUS! THAT IS ALMOST AS RIDICULOUS AS HARRIETT MYERS RUNNING FOR SUPREME COURT!" or however it went, but it was sooooo funny!
i love this show greatly!
my sis and i always plan if our school did it, who we would play (i'd be leaf coneybear :) )
but yeah, best song is most definitely "i speak six languages"!!!!
Haha, my friends and I are already working on our own choreography to do the opening song at out district talent show next year! I was already told that I'm being Olive, so I just have to find the right people to play the other roles...this should be fun =)
I'm even going to GUESS at that number, Liotte...I just know that I'll never top your number. I'll probably stop at 15 or 20...or until Celia leaves the show.
I'd hope they would since David Campbell is one of Sony's wonderboys, but then I'd feel bad for Kane Alexander, and we can't have that (even if he sold out to Il Divo ).
