Overly long promo for "Spider-Man" on CNN with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin. Painfully unfunny and way too long. (Twitter is blowing up with people trashing it.)
Oh well.

#3Spider-Man/CNN cross promotion... fail
Posted: 1/1/12 at 12:36amI don't know the details but from reading a few tweets it involves an awkward Anderson Cooper being captured by the Green Goblin and being saved by Spiderman. I dunno but apparently it was really lame.

Poor Mr. Cooper.

Just add the cost of that steaming turd to the money Spiderman will never recoup.
Stick to the news Mr. Cooper. Acting ain't your bag.

Posted: 1/1/12 at 3:09amHow much money did the producers pay CNN for that product placement? I kept thinking they would have to end the segment with that bouncy New York City freaks number from the show, which would have brought a little much-needed frisson to the homogenous penned in crowds in their matching blue and white Nivea (tm) hats and balloons. But no. It just ground to a halt. Fortunately, Mrs. Kathy was busting Cooper's balls about it from the second he was back with her.

AMAZINGLY FUN! Best new years coverage, CNN did a great job, and Kathy and Anderson made a really fantastic show.
Loved the stunt, I mean, spider-man just saved new years eve..... how COOL is that??

Wow, that was awful....and look, what a great audience they tried to recruit: drunken, frozen revelers - won't they make a fun audience?
I wonder (perhaps a bit wistfully) that this signals advance sales aren't what they'd like?
(And before you trash me, I don't relish actors being out of work -- I just prefer the work they do be of quality.)

Really? No, but really? It's one thing if you like the show, LegallyBroadway2. But just because you like Spider-Man doesn't mean you have to enjoy everything it's ever touched. If you thought that shtick was good, you were drinking too much for New Year's last night.

Posted: 1/1/12 at 10:06amThe best part of that segment was Kathy Griffin immediately giving Cooper **** for it, the second it ended.

I like when Kathy said she couldn't follow the storyline!
That aside, I thought it was cheesy fun. Anderson should take an acting class though. Spidey on top of the building was pretty cool though!

They should have put Kathy Griffith on top of the Jumbotron and left her there.
I thought that clip was hoot. Do you think they thought it was going to be good?

They should have put Anderson in Spandex and had him rescue Kathy from the top of the TKTS booth.
Or they should have put Anderson in Spandex and had him do ANYTHING.
